Heavenly NYC church Jude Law once called home asks $2.9M
This Greenwich Village gem is truly divine — and it has just received some divine intervention. A two-bedroom, two-bathroom aerie inside the historic Peace Church is on the market for $2.95 million — down from its $3.29 million ask in March. The heavenly building, known as the Novare, is at 135 W. 4th St. It has also been home to actors, musicians and models including Jude Law, Steven Van Zandt and Noémie Lenoir. 8 Actor Jude Law. Getty Images At 2,033 square feet, this third-floor unit even features original stained-glass doors and windows. It first hit the market for $3.49 million in 2020. (The sellers, Sabrina and former Goldman Sachs managing director Ramsey Smith, bought the residence for $3.2 million in 2014.) Built in 1860, the former Methodist church stands on the corner of Washington Square Park. It was dubbed the Peace Church because of its support for Vietnam War protesters — and it also supported the Black Panthers and GMHC, formerly known as the Gay Men's Health Crisis. When Law lived in the penthouse during a stint on Broadway's 'Hamlet' in 2009, he worked out with his trainer on the terrace, much to the delight of his neighbors in an NYU freshman dorm. But the teenage fun turned when Law threw oranges at them. 8 Actor Steven Van Zandt. Getty Images 8 The sunlit colors inside the home are divine. Rich Caplan 8 A view of the layout. An elevator landing opens directly into a large living area overlooking an original stained-glass centerpiece. The spacious loft boasts two separate entertaining spaces connected by a 6-foot-wide, 41-foot-long central gallery with a wall of stained-glass windows that is an ideal spot to showcase art. 8 The stained glass touches are a handsome reminder of the building's past. Rich Caplan There's also a windowed skylight, and an open chef's kitchen. 'The building only has eight homes, and no two are alike. But even among the others, this one really stands out. For instance, the stained glass that begins on the second floor appears from the floor to the ceiling on the third level,' said Serhant's Krista Nickols, who shares the listing with Serhant's Peyton Yen and Jake Dunsmore. 'This home is ideal for someone who wants something that no one else has, and appreciates its character, originality and craftsmanship,' Nickols said. 8 Another view of the kitchen. Rich Caplan The main bedroom features a charming bay window, a separate dressing room with a walk-in closet and an ensuite spa-like bathroom, which also boasts stained-glass details. 'We have so many happy memories of raising our family there — playing in Washington Square Park and being right in the heart of Greenwich Village,' Sabrina Smith told Gimme Shelter. 'It was such a unique experience. Even though we've moved out of New York, the building will always have a special place in our hearts,' Smith said. The church converted to eight condos in 2006.

Sixers guard Jared Butler learning the luxury real estate ropes from Serhant
By submitting your information you are agreeing to our Privacy Policy and User Agreement . On the second day of his internship, Jared Butler ended up helping Serhant host an open house for Sixers teammate Joel Embiid's penthouse. On a windy day in Old City last week, Philadelphia 76ers guard Jared Butler stopped to study an open house sign outside a luxury condo building before heading up to the penthouse. Butler, who joined the Sixers in a trade deadline deal with the Washington Wizards in February, wasn't looking for a new place but rather a future career. When he's not on the basketball court, Butler is often watching real estate shows like "Fixer Upper" on HGTV and the Netflix series "Owning Manhattan" featuring high-profile New York broker Ryan Serhant. After Butler arrived Philadelphia and began to search for an apartment, he found out the agent he was using worked for Serhant's brokerage. The two-time college All-America selection said he was "starstruck." After finding a place to rent in Fishtown, Butler kept in touch with Andrea Desy Edrei, Serhant Pennsylvania's operating partner and herself a former college basketball player at New York University. GET TO KNOW YOUR CITY Find Local Events Near You Connect with a community of local professionals. Explore All Events Butler, 24, said Edrei "took me under her wing," introducing him to new people in the real estate industry and showing him around the city. That friendship — and Butler's interest in real estate — yielded an offer for him to join Serhant this offseason as an intern. Two days after the Sixers played their last game on April 13, Butler started his new side gig. "I think the best time to look for another job is while you have a job," said the Baylor University alum, who recently signed a two-year contract with the Sixers after being traded from the Washington Wizards. While a full-time real estate career will have wait until his playing days are over, Butler said he feels getting his feet wet in the industry while still playing sets him up for life after basketball. "I'm a person, I play basketball and you can only play basketball for so long," Butler said. "This is something that I like to do, something that's really fun for me." Serhant often works with professional athletes to place them and sell their properties, but Butler said he wouldn't want to focus his career strictly on fellow athletes even though he has plenty of experience with their plight. Now playing for his fourth team in four years in the NBA, Butler knows all too well how difficult it can be to move to a different city and adjust to a new culture, new teammates and new living options. "I think it would be a full-circle moment, selling a house to an athlete that's gotten traded or moved to a new city," said Butler, a native of Louisiana. In the short-term, the internship will help Butler get acclimated to Philadelphia. On his second day, he was shuffled between open houses and Serhant's Old City office, ultimately ending up at an open house for teammate Joel Embiid's penthouse that is on the market for $3.9 million. He's jumping right into the spring housing market, traditionally the busiest and most lucrative time of the year for real estate agents. Butler sees the internship as an opportunity to peel back the curtain on an industry he's only seen on TV. "I hope to learn, honestly, just to get a feel for it, almost like visiting a practice or organization and seeing how things are run," he said. Mariah Carey's Connecticut rental lists for $13.9M
How much does it cost to live like Mariah Carey? Needless to say, it's pretty far from a song. The five-time Grammy-winning artist had been renting this Connecticut property for $75,000 a month for almost two years, starting in July 2023. Now it's on the market for sale and can be yours for $13.9 million, Gimme Shelter has learned — down from its initial $16.9 million ask in 2022. Advertisement 16 Mariah Carey. The grand brick-and-limestone main residence, a Tudor mansion at 544 Oenoke Ridge, was built in 1929. The property was also once owned by the late Carlos Hank González, nicknamed 'El Profesor' — the former businessman, governor of Mexico State and 1976 mayor of Mexico City — who built a massive 9-foot-high, 2-feet-thick, 1,500-foot-long fieldstone wall for 'privacy and security,' something that could never be done today, said listing broker Danielle Malloy of Serhant. Malloy shares the listing with fellow Serhant broker Jessica Lane. (Gonzalez paid $875,000 for the property in 1980, according to reports.)
