Where UNC basketball ranks in latest way-too-early top 25
As we enter the start of Summer, there are still some looming questions for the North Carolina Tar Heels' basketball program. There's still a chance they can land a player out of the transfer portal, and they are indeed after a few international prospects.
With UNC losing a lot of their production from a year ago, they need to find a way to replace that. They have already landed a good class out of the transfer portal in addition to a top 10 recruiting class for the 2025 cycle.
But even with that, a lot of experts are not high on the Tar Heels, and it's clear that it's going to be a very important year for Hubert Davis.
In On3's latest way-too-early rankings for the 2025-26 season, they have North Carolina barely in the top 25 at No. 24 overall:

The site is also not high on the ACC again having just three teams ranked overall in the rankings. They had Duke No. 3 overall and Louisville at No. 12 overall.
These are only preseason rankings and a lot will happen between now and the NCAA Tournament but it's always interesting to see where experts have these teams after offseason moves.
