Pennsylvania shares a long history with the drive-in movie theater. For more than 75 years, generations of families and friends across the Keystone State have piled into cars and gathered under the stars to watch movies on a giant outdoor screen. There are about 29 drive-in theaters still in operation in Pennsylvania, more than any other state in the U.S. except New York. Shankweiler's Drive-In Theatre in eastern PA, which opened in 1934, is the nation's oldest drive-in still in operation.
