Bossier City public health emergencies: gases, damaged sewer manhole
BOSSIER CITY, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — The Bossier City council has declared that 'emergencies did exist' which affected property, public health, and safety.
The emergencies were due to the damage to gravity sewer manholes and lift stations caused by excessive use and corrosive H2S gases – commonly known as 'sewer gas' – a colorless, flammable gas with a rotten-egg odor, according to a recent Bossier City Council ordinance.
Ordinance number 66 details the needed emergency support to rehabilitate the influent sewer manhole and replace the Boardwalk lift station discharge manifolds and support brackets, which will cost $77,220.90 to repair.
