Woman thought man was helping her - then he took advantage in worst way possible
Liam Brodrick, 28, sexually assaulted the 19-year-old woman at Warrington Bank Quay station in January last year - with the station's CCTV cameras capturing the whole thing A man who sexually assaulted a 19-year-old woman after she fell asleep at a train station has been jailed for nine years. Liam Brodrick, 28, befriended the victim in the early hours of a cold winter morning and after a brief conversation, the pair walked into a takeaway shop. But when the woman left, telling him she'd to catch a train, Brodrick ran after her and walked with her towards the station. They arrived at the station only to find it closed and Brodrick offered his coat to the girl before both sat on the ground. She fell asleep and woke to find Brodrick sexually assaulting her. She ran away but he called her back asking for his coat. Despite Brodrick's best efforts to ensure no one was watching, the CCTV at Warrington Bank Quay station had captured the whole thing. The victim was then spotted by police officers and told them what had happened. An officer had noted seeing Brodrick just moments earlier and he was arrested. Last Friday the 28-year-old, of Warrington, was sentenced at Liverpool Crown Court for the crime which took place in January last year to nine years, comprising of six years in custody with the remaining three years on licence after he pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual assault. He was also handed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for an indefinite period and a life-long signature on the Sex Offenders Register. Furthermore, an indefinite restraining order was granted for the victim. Investigating officer Detective Constable Melissa Catterall said: "Brodrick knew what he was doing and took advantage of a lone woman who believed he was trying to help her but was only looking to serve his own sexual gratification. His actions are disgusting and abhorrent, and I'm grateful to see the sentence handed down. There is zero-tolerance for sexual offences on the rail network and we will do everything in our power to bring offenders to justice." Grooming gang victim 'would rather be dead most days' as abusers sentenced
One of the victims of a grooming gang has said she would "rather be dead most days" than deal with the trauma she experiences as a result of the abuse. She shared the devastating impact the abuse has had on her life in her victim impact statement that was read out at Liverpool Crown Court. The group of 10 men who groomed, raped and sexually abused underage girls in Blackrod, Bolton, between 2016 and 2018 have all been sentenced. Daniel Flatters, Jack Poulson, Cory Barrett, James Fitzgerald, Richard Haslam, and Elliott Turner are the final six men that have been handed substantial sentences on on 29 April for a range of sexual offences. The victim said: 'This is the story of how these individuals destroyed my life forever. "I think nothing can hurt me as bad as what they did to me, but I'm still terrified of everything and everyone around me. I can't even go outside on my own. 'I suffered every form of abuse from each of these individuals, and they continue to haunt me every day. "What they don't realise is it's not okay to take someone's life just to get a quick fix. 'I'd rather be dead most days than deal with all this mental torture and memories. 'Because of these men, I will never be able to live a normal life again. I'm too scared just to do simple tasks such as going outside or holding down a job, even simply being naked." To conclude, she added: 'I am forced, by my own brain, to relive every second with these vile people, over and over again. "No amount of prison time for them can make that go away. "I live in my own prison now and that is what they have done to me.' The gang preyed on young girls aged between 13 and 15 by meeting them where they would hang out with other teenagers near the local community centre. They would then message them on private messaging and social media platforms. Jack Poulson, 32, was convicted of two counts of rape, five counts of sexual activity with a child under 16, one count of causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent, one count of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, and one count of sexual communications with a child. He was sentenced to 17 years in prison, to serve two thirds. He has been handed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and a Restraining Order. He has been placed on the Sex Offenders' Register for life. Richard Haslam, 36, was convicted of two counts of rape, one count of oral rape, two counts of sexual activity with a child under 16 and one count of causing a child to engage in sexual activity. He was sentenced to 16 years in prison, to serve at least two thirds. He has been given a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and a Restraining Order for life. He has been placed on the Sex Offenders' Register for life. Daniel Flatters, 34, was convicted of of four counts of sexual activity with a child under the age of 16. Ahead of the trial, he entered guilty pleas to Supply Class A Cocaine and Aggravated TWOC. He was sentenced to seven years in prison, to serve at least half. He has been handed a Sexual Harm prevention Order and been given a Restraining Order. He has been placed on the Sex Offenders' Register for life. James Fitzgerald, 36, was convicted of one count of sexual assault by penetration. He was sentenced to five years and 6 months in prison, to serve at least half. He has been given a Restraining Order for life and has been placed on the Sex Offenders' Register for life. Cory Barrett, 24, was convicted of three counts of rape, one count of oral rape and one count of sexual assault by penetration. He was sentenced to 12 years in prison, to serve at least two thirds. He has been given a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and a Restraining Order for life. He has been placed on the Sex Offenders' Register for life. Elliott Turner, 36, was convicted of two counts of sexual activity with a child under 16. He was sentenced to two years in prison. He has been handed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and a Restraining Order for 10 years. He has been placed on the Sex Offenders' Register for 10 years. In addition to the six men sentenced today, the so-called ringleader Ashley Darbyshire, 28, was jailed for 15 years on 28 April. Ross Corley, 30, was sentenced on the same day to 28 months in prison. Harvie Aspden, 25, received 15 months in prison suspended for two years. Detective Constable Robert Booth, who worked on the investigation and with the victims, said: 'I hope these sentences offer some kind of comfort and a sense of justice for our brave victims as they try to move on with their lives. 'It was thanks to their bravery in coming forward that these men now have to pay for their despicable crimes against young, vulnerable and impressionable girls. We could not have got to this point without your incredible bravery. 'It must have been incredibly difficult for them to sit through interviews and to have to relive the traumatic experiences they had. This has been a lengthy and arduous process for you all, and we thank you for your courage. 'I am glad these depraved individuals have been brought to justice, and I hope this sends a clear message that we will not tolerate sexual predators on our streets. 'If you are a victim of sexual abuse, please reach out to us. We are here to listen and work with you at your own pace, when you are ready.'

Stalker in 'trench coat' kept sick diary as he targeted mums on school run
Travis Ward, 22, Londesborough, sprayed a woman with bodily fluid from a syringe as he stalked mothers taking their children to a Hull school and kept sick diaries about meeting them, a court heard A man wearing a 'trench coat and a red hoody' stalked mothers as they took their kids to school and sprayed one with bodily fluid from a syringe, a court heard. Travis Ward kept a tally of the encounters of the women, making up names for them and writing in notes on his phone what he would he would like to do with them. Another was stalked while he wore a face covering and a dark coat. Grimsby Crown Court heard police found his membership of banned far-right group Britain First along with vile images on his phone. Travis, 22, from Londesborough, admitted four stalking offences, sexual assault by spraying one woman with semen from a syringe and an offence of possession of indecent images of a woman having sex with a Dalmatian dog and a horse. Claire Holmes, prosecuting, told how one of the women became so frightened of seeing him each time she took her daughter to school that she stopped taking her for fear of what he might do to her or her daughter. On multiple occasions he trailed her as she went to and from the school. When he was reported to police by one of the women, police arrested him. He resisted and officers had to use Pava spray to detain him. His phone revealed sickening details of his secret encounters stalking four women. From the phone evidence police were able to identify the other women who were being secretly stalked. In a victim impact statement read by Miss Holmes, one woman said: "I was terrified what he might do. I hope he realises the sheer fear and anxiety he caused to my family." Mitigating, Hannah Turner urged Judge Gurdial Singh to assess a psychological report which described his low intellectual ability and highlighted autism traits which resulted in him becoming fixated. She said he was living an isolated life at the time. He had an online girlfriend in the USA, whom he had never met. He joined Britain First due to his isolation, she added. Judge Singh said: "One can only imagine the fear they (victims) must have felt." He jailed Ward for a total of 40 months and handed down a seven-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order. He will be on the Sex Offender Register for seven years, along with a ten-year restraining order, reported HullLive. After the hearing, Detective Sergeant Sam Cunnington from Humberside Police Protecting Vulnerable People Unit, said: 'Ward is an obsessive, methodical individual who documented his plans to stalk women across Hull as they went about their daily business, before acting on his plans, and subsequently diarising them all for his own personal sexual gratification. 'Before he went out on his hunt, he donned a trench coat, red hoody and face covering to alter his persona and was seen multiple times on CCTV wearing the same clothing as he pursued and intimidated women, who were strangers to him, as he followed them home or as they took their children to school. 'Following multiple reports, and after one brave woman came forward to contact the police whilst she was being followed by Ward in the area of Porter Street in Hull, officers were able to identify and arrest him nearby on the same day. Whilst in custody, Ward's devices including phones, computers and hard drives were subsequently seized and examined, revealing videos of extreme animal pornography, as well as a digital diary full of derogatory and offensive language highlighting who he was planning to target. 'I would like to commend the four women for coming forward and reporting Ward. It is because of their bravery, we were able to stack up the evidence against him, leading to Ward deciding to plead guilty, and eventually being put behind bars. 'The streets of Hull will be much safer without him on them.' He added: "We take all reports of sexual assault, stalking and other sexual offences extremely seriously and we will continue to seek justice for those who have suffered from crimes of similar nature. "We would encourage anyone who believes they have been a victim of, or has witnessed these kind of crimes, in any form, to please contact us as soon as possible via our non-emergency number 101. Always call 999 in an emergency or if a crime is ongoing. "If you cannot talk on the phone, you can dial 999 and listen to the questions from the operator, and if you can, cough or tap on the handset to reply. You can also press 55 on your handset to make yourself heard and this will transfer your call directly to the police."

Fake paramedic raped and sexually assaulted women he met on Tinder
A man who tricked women into believing he was a paramedic before raping one and sexually assaulting two others has been jailed for 12 years. 24-year-old Jamie Kadolski of Norwich previously worked as a call handler for the East of England Ambulance Service but had lied to the three women that he was a paramedic. He used stickers on his work ID card to hide his more junior role, an earlier trial at Norwich Crown Court was told. He's now been found guilty of three counts of rape and of six further sexual offences. Judge Anthony Bate, sentencing at the same court on Thursday, said the offending happened between August 2022 and September 2023, when he met the women through Tinder. He said the defendant 'projected a misleading impression of your healthcare professional status through your misuse of uniforms, health service identity cards and related papers'. 'Each of them expected to be safe in your company and able to enjoy a healthy and fulfilling future relationship based on mutual respect,' he said. He sentenced him to 12 years in prison with an extended licence period of three years, dubbing him a 'dangerous offender'. The judge also imposed an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order, and ordered that Kadolski's seized devices, uniforms and identity cards remain confiscated. The woman who was raped by Kadolski cried in the witness stand as she said she felt 'humiliated and ashamed', and has nightmares almost every night. Seeing ambulances or paramedics in the street 'fills her with dread', she said, despite now knowing Kadolski isn't a paramedic. A second woman said she was a 'shadow' of her former self, and had tried to take her own life. His third victim told the court that the 'thought of what happened still haunts me today'. More Trending Defending lawyer Michael Cohen said others would represent Mr Kadolski in an application for permission to appeal his convictions. He said Kadolski had no previous convictions or cautions that were relevant to the case. The defendant showed no emotion as he was led to the cells.
