Two residents of Hinton have been charged by RCMP in relation to a drug trafficking investigation.
In January, Mounties received information about an individual trafficking drugs from an address in Hinton.
Hinton RCMP Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) executed a warrant on May 30 at the address, seizing 30 grams of fentanyl, eight grams of cocaine and smaller amounts of other drugs.
A 38 year-old man and a 32 year-old woman were charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking. The man was also charged with trafficking in a controlled substance.
They are both set to appear in court on June 18.
'I want to start by thanking the public for coming forth with the information that allowed us to start this investigation,' said Sgt. Shiloh Fragomeni, detachment commander of the Hinton RCMP in a statement. 'This investigation highlights how good information, paired with specialized units such as Hinton RCMP CRU, can help keep our communities safe by removing drugs from our streets and arresting those responsible for trafficking them.'
