"Shabab Imraa" TV Adaptation to Screen in Second Half of Ramadan
Yara Sameh Egyptian actress Ghada Abdel Razek's upcoming TV adaptation of the 1956 film "Shabab Imraa" is set to be screened in the second half of the Ramadan 2025 drama marathon. "Shabab Imraa" is one of the 100 most important films in the history of Egyptian cinema. It featured a starry cast that included the likes of Shadya, Taheyya Kariokka, Shokry Sarhan, Abdel Wareth Asar, Serag Mounir, and Fardos Mohamed. Salah Abu Seif directed the pic from a script he co-wrote alongside Amin Yousseff Ghurab and Sayid Bidir. It was screened at the 1956 Cannes Film Festival. "Shabab Imraa" chronicles the life of Imam Biltagy Hassanein (Sarhan), a young man from the countryside to study in Cairo. He rents a house in the Al-Khalifa neighborhood from a woman called Shafaat (Kariokka), who seduces him and causes him to fall back on his studies. However, Salwa (Shadya), a young close to him who has known him since childhood helps him out of the spiral, despite her father advising him to stay away from her, leading Hassanein to try to break free from Shafaat's clutches. The TV adaptation consists of 15 episodes and features Abdel Razek as Shafaat, Youssef Omar as Imam Biltagy Hassanein, Dalia Shawky as Salwa, and Mohamed Mahmoud as Am Hasbo. Tarek El Nahry, Abeer Sabry, Mahmoud Hafez, Ahmed Fathy, and Jory Bakr round out the cast of the drama. "Shabab Imraa" is scripted by Mohammed Suleiman Abdul-Malik, directed by Ahmed Hassan, and produced by Phenomena Media Production.
