Tipperary driver fined €500 and given four-year driving ban
A driver with a Co Tipperary address was fined €500 and given a four-year driving ban at Cashel District Court.
Shaban Simonov, of Apartment 1A Main Street, Golden Co Tipperary, was observed driving a silver Volvo car on the Main Street of Cashel on March 19 this year.
A garda using an automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) system stopped Mr Simonov. Mr Simonov had no motoring documents or insurance in the car. A garda made a lawful demand for him to produce his motoring documents.
The garda discovered that a driving disqualification order in respect of Mr Simonov was in force. The vehicle was seized and the defendant was arrested and taken to Cahir garda station. He made no reply when charged with having no insurance, Sgt Carol O'Leary told Judge Brian O'Shea.
Mr Simonov has seven previous convictions. Mr Simonov was fined €500, six months to pay, and disqualified from driving for four years. A charge of driving without a driving licence was taken into account.
