When cricketers swap bats for putters: Kolkata team turn golfers for a cause
On Tuesday afternoon, cricket's familiar faces were seen in an unfamiliar avatar—as golfers. At one of the city's oldest golf clubs, players from Kolkata's home team swapped their spikes for soft cleats and cricket bats for putters as they took part in a charity golf event centred around a new women-focused initiative. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Now in its eighth edition, the annual golf outing brought together key squad members including captain Ajinkya Rahane, mentor Dwayne Bravo, pacer Anrich Nortje, and the team management in a relaxed, friendly round. Far from the pressures of the pitch, the mood on the greens was light-hearted, yet anchored by a serious purpose. The event supported an initiative titled Shahoshi Rani , aimed at celebrating and uplifting women through a series of programs and outreach efforts. All proceeds from the afternoon's golf session will contribute to furthering this cause. A source present at the event described the atmosphere as 'focused but fun,' with players showing off their golf swings, sharing jokes between putts, and reflecting on how sports can connect communities beyond the stadium. While the T20 season keeps the players in constant motion, this brief pause offers a different kind of swing—a reminder that the spirit of sport isn't limited to one field or format.
