Arcapita and DSV Collaborate on Eco-Friendly Warehouse in Dubai's Jebel Ali Free Zone
Dubai: Arcapita Group Holdings Limited ('Arcapita'), a global alternative investment firm, in collaboration with DSV, a leading global logistics company, has announced the development of a cutting-edge, 30,000 square meter build-to-suit warehouse located in Dubai's Jebel Ali Free Zone (JAFZA).
According to Bahrain News Agency, this project signifies a major expansion in the partnership between Arcapita and DSV, with a strong emphasis on sustainability and innovation. Group AMANA, a prominent regional design-build company, has commenced construction following a groundbreaking event. The company was awarded the official design and build contract for the facility, which will utilize modular construction, offsite construction, and Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology to ensure a high-quality, sustainable facility is delivered within 11 months.
The warehouse is designed to adhere to the highest international standards, incorporating advanced automation systems, LEED certification for energy efficiency, and green building practices. It will serve key industries such as Healthcare, Consumer and Retail, Technology, Automotive, and Industrial sectors. The facility is planned to have a capacity for 75,000 pallet positions, a designated area for handling hazardous materials like lithium batteries, and a substantial covered outdoor storage space. Additionally, it will offer specialized 'white glove' logistics services tailored for high-value and sensitive shipments, particularly benefiting the healthcare and luxury goods sectors.
Shaikh Isa bin Hussam Al Khalifa, Director of Real Estate Investments at Arcapita, stated, 'This project reflects the evolving needs of the logistics sector. The development of this warehouse signifies the second phase of the strategic partnership between Arcapita and DSV, further enhancing their collaboration and shared vision for logistics innovation. Situated within DSV's JAFZA South Campus, the facility bolsters DSV's presence in Dubai, a pivotal regional hub for global trade.
Arcapita's investment in the Jebel Ali facility is part of its broader strategy to expand its industrial real estate portfolio across the GCC. Since 2010, Arcapita has established a platform of over 30 properties covering 3.5 million square feet, leased to more than 80 tenants, including blue-chip international companies and regional leaders.
