Foreign Diplomats Commend Morocco's Security Model During DGSN Open Days
Rabat – A group of 24 foreign diplomats and international representatives commended Morocco's proactive approach to national security during their visit to the 6th edition of the Open Days of the General Directorate for National Security (DGSN) in El Jadida.
Welcomed by Abdellatif Hammouchi, head of Morocco's national police and intelligence services (DGSN/DGST), the diplomats expressed appreciation for the professionalism, innovation, and modern equipment of Morocco's security forces.
The delegation included ambassadors and security officials from across the world, including from Japan, China, India, Canada, Chile, Australia, Denmark, Mauritania, Mali, Ghana, Kenya, Rwanda, South Africa, the US, and the UK.
The diplomats also met with senior DGSN officials to discuss ways to boost bilateral and regional security cooperation, particularly in fighting cross-border threats and sharing expertise through South-South partnerships.
One of the highlights of the visit was a live demonstration by Morocco's elite anti-terrorism units, which showcased advanced intervention techniques. The diplomats also showed interest in Morocco's use of smart drones to manage large public events, an area of growing importance ahead of major sports competitions like the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2030 World Cup. The tour also included presentations on Morocco's scientific and technical police work and a visit to a museum that traces over 60 years of the country's police history. Visitors also saw the 'AMANE' smart patrol vehicle, developed locally with artificial intelligence, facial recognition, and license plate scanning technologies.
Rwanda's ambassador to Morocco, Shakilla Umutoni, said the visit reinforced her country's interest in building strong partnerships in police training and cooperation with Morocco.
Meanwhile, China's ambassador, Li Changlin, commended Morocco's progress in modernizing its security services and equipment, with DR Congo's ambassador, Henri Mangaya, calling Morocco a strategic partner for regional security in Africa.
This year's Open Days event, held under the theme 'Proud to Serve a Glorious Nation and Throne,' also marked the 69th anniversary of Morocco's National Police, celebrated on May 16.
