Shakopee crash closes highway and leaves 1 dead, 1 in critical condition
The Brief One person is dead and another is in critical condition after a crash in Shakopee Monday afternoon. The crash occurred on Highway 101 between Murphy's Landing and Canterbury Road. The crash caused Highway 101 to be closed for part of the afternoon. SHAKOPEE, Minn. (FOX 9) - A crash in Shakopee left one person dead and another critically injured Monday afternoon. What we know According to the Shakopee Police Department, officers responded to a crash on Highway 101 between Murphy's Landing and Canterbury Road. Police say one person died in the crash and another is in critical condition. The cras led to the closure of eastbound Highway 101 for a part of Monday afternoon. What we don't know The cause of the crash is currently unknown, but the Minnesota State Patrol is investigating. Shakopee police reports: man cited in connection with stealing Nutter Butters
The Shakopee Police Department responded to and provided summaries for the following incidents March 25 to April 5. The Valley News does not include a comprehensive list of calls to which the department responded. Incidents are included here based on severity, impact on public safety or other factors. A burglary was reported in the 3600 block of Marschall Road at 4:51 p.m. when firearms valued at $1,000 were reported stolen from the residence. Officers responded to reports of an assault in the 1100 block of Kensington Drive at 1:02 p.m. Officers found two juveniles arguing, and did not issue citations. A burglary was reported at Light of the World Church, 502 First Ave., at 7:33 p.m. The police department said there was an unknown amount of cash missing as well as damage to the church's door lock. A criminal sexual conduct case was reported to the police department at 9:08 p.m. The case was forwarded to Scott County Attorney's Office for charges. The Shakopee Police Department did not provide any additional information, such as the location of the incident, citing data privacy laws. A theft was reported at Target at 9:17 a.m. Shakopee Police Capt. Jason Arras said a cell phone was stolen from the store, and a citation was issued to the suspect. Officers responded to a residential burglary at Arbor Landing Apartments, 560 Gorman St., at 9:25 a.m. Arras said a maintenance locker was broken into, and $130 worth of maintenance tools was stolen. A storage garage burglary was reported in the 2400 block of Mystic Lake Drive at 10:19 a.m. About $2,000 worth of tools and equipment was stolen from the garage, including an air compressor, an air hose and a panel steel door. A 25-year-old Shakopee man was arrested in connection with fifth-degree domestic assault in the 100 block of Lewis Street at 1:21 a.m. The victim suffered minor injuries. License plates were stolen from a motor vehicle at Lowe's, 4210 Dean Lakes Blvd., at 2:15 p.m. There are no suspects at this time. A 24-year-old man from Minneapolis was cited in connection with theft at Kwik Trip for allegedly stealing a box of Nutter Butters. A television was stolen from Walmart, 8101 Old Carriage Court, at 1:50 p.m. The suspect is unknown, and the camera quality is grainy, Arras said.

Assault: Jan. 18: A 31-year-old Bloomington man was cited for fifth-degree assault at the 3700 block of Fourth Avenue at 4:15 p.m. Driving & DWIs: Jan. 20: A 35-year-old Shakopee man was arrested for third-degree DWI, improper lane use and rear lamps required at Vierling Drive and Pine Tree Lane at 2:34 a.m. Jan. 20: A 28-year-old Zimmerman man was arrested for second-degree DWI, second-degree DWI test refusal and trespassing at the 1100 block of Canterbury Road at 11:31 p.m. Jan. 22: A 34-year-old Shakopee man was arrested for third-degree DWI at the 1700 block of Crossings Boulevard at 12:45 a.m. Jan. 23: A 19-year-old Jordan man was arrested for third-degree DWI, underage drinking and driving and underage consumption of alcohol at Eagle Creek Boulevard and Dean Lakes Trail at 7:46 p.m. Theft: Jan. 19: A stolen 1997 Honda CRV was reported at the 2300 block of Eastway Avenue at 1:07 p.m. The estimated value is $1,000. Jan. 22: A purse and electronics were reported stolen from a vehicle at Planet Fitness on 17th Avenue at 4:35 p.m. The estimated value is $1,200. Warrants: Jan. 19: A 57-year-old Savage man was arrested for a Scott County warrant at County Road 83 and Highway 169 at 5:23 a.m. Jan. 21: A 47-year-old Minneapolis man was arrested for a Scott County warrant at County Road 83 and County Road 42 at 1:47 a.m.
