Indian Institute of Petroleum and Energy joins hands with Magnivia Ventures to set up energy research park

1 2 Visakhapatnam: The Indian Institute of Petroleum and Energy (IIPE), in partnership with Magnivia Ventures , is set to establish the IIPE-Magnivia Business and Energy Research Park at its permanent campus coming up at Sabbavaram. IIPE and Magnivia recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the execution of the project, which involves an estimated investment of Rs 150 crore. The initiative aims to accelerate energy innovation , facilitate technology transfer, and enable the commercial deployment of deep-tech solutions in the energy sector emerging from academic research. The park will feature cutting-edge research and development facilities, including dedicated laboratories focused on green hydrogen, advanced battery materials, carbon capture, and other frontier energy technologies. The research park will house multiple specialised laboratories equipped with advanced instrumentation for conducting experiments in green hydrogen production, storage, and utilisation. The battery materials research centre will focus on developing next-generation energy storage solutions, whilst the carbon capture facility will explore innovative methods for reducing industrial emissions. To bridge the gap between academic research and industrial applications, the partnership will offer industry fellowships to researchers and faculty members. These fellowships will enable direct collaboration with industry experts, providing valuable insights into market requirements and technological feasibility. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Tukarkan Bitcoin dan Ethereum - Tanpa Dompet Diperlukan! IC Markets MULAI SEKARANG Undo Joint research projects will be undertaken to address specific industry challenges and develop practical solutions. A key focus area is developing skilled professionals for the energy sector. The research park will offer specialised training programmes in emerging energy technologies, including hands-on experience with advanced equipment and exposure to industrial practices. These programmes will be designed in consultation with industry partners to ensure relevance to current market needs. Speaking to TOI, IIPE director Prof. Shalivahan Srivastava said that the collaboration of Magnivia Ventures with IIPE marks a significant milestone in India's energy research landscape. "The research park will be established at IIPE's expansive Vizag campus in Sabbavaram, featuring state-of-the-art laboratories and research facilities. The initiative aims to accelerate the development of sustainable energy solutions through focused research and development programmes. This is a moment of alignment—science meeting capital, ideas meeting execution, and institutions meeting intent. Natural hydrogen is no longer a scientific curiosity; it's an investment category," said Prof. Shalivahan. Meanwhile, IIPE celebrated its fifth convocation on Saturday. Arun Misra, chief executive officer and whole-time director of Hindustan Zinc, attended the occasion as the chief guest. Degrees were conferred on a total of 51 students, comprising two PhD scholars, 15 MSc students in applied geology, and 34 BTech students. Addressing the students, Misra said that corporate life in India often resembles a well-scripted television drama. He explained that when new graduates join a company, they encounter seniors with varying levels of experience—some graduated just two years ago, while others have been in the workforce for several decades. "This discrepancy naturally breeds conflict: seniors, by virtue of their positions, insist on their outdated expertise, while newcomers bring fresh, relevant insights. Rather than directly challenging their authority, I advise allowing seniors to feel secure in their knowledge, then gradually introducing and planting your new ideas. The key is to refine your messaging for clarity and subtlety—making it seem as though they are providing input rather than you suggesting something. This approach fosters mutual respect and enables smooth transitions in an ever-evolving corporate landscape," said Misra. Oil and gas & energy: 100%
