Zach Shallcross and Kaity Biggar, who became engaged on Season 27 of The Bachelor in 2023, have married. The couple wed on Friday, May 23, in Texas, according to court documents which TMZ has obtained. In the last episode of their season, Shallcross asked Biggar out in Thailand. The couple then declared that they love one another. Shallcross quoted, "Kaity, I want to spend the rest of my life with you. My heart is pounding through my chest at this moment," before asking for her hand. He asked, "Will you marry me?" Biggar answered, "Absolutely. Shallcross gave Biggar a Neil Lane oval-cut diamond engagement ring. She described the ring as looking like 'a huge disco ball.' Following their engagement, Shallcross and Biggar stated that they were considering a wedding in 2025 and mentioned plans to start a family in the future. Shallcross said, 'We'll see what happens after that with little ones.' In March of 2025, Biggar was a guest on the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast and gave a report on their wedding. She indicated that they were planning to marry some time this year, although she did not give the specific date.

Suspected tornado tears off roofs, splits trees, levels fences in Weatherford neighborhood

A possible tornado tore through a Parker County neighborhood late Saturday evening, leaving mounds of debris behind and residents to pick up the pieces of their homes Sunday. A roof was completely torn off a home and ended up in another home's driveway. The people who live there said they're unable to leave because their car is trapped in the garage with their neighbor's roof in front of it. "It looks like something almost took a bite out of the roof. I'm still kind of in awe and kind of in shock as I continue to walk around and look at everything," Ann-Marie Shallcross said. She assessed the damage to her home and remained shell-shocked to see all the destruction around her. "I think this is my furniture over here," Shallcross said. "Oh, there's another part of the chair right there. My fence is down, and just looking at it for the first time, the posts are just completely bent over, not even broken or pulled up, just bent over completely." Kristen Dunn and her family went to their safe spot after getting tornado warnings on their phones. "We went into the closet in the master bedroom. Five of us went in there. We brought helmets for the kids. We padded it with some mattresses," Dunn said. "We did hear one really loud rumble, and I think that's when that roof came off." "I thought somebody was going to be dead. That's what I was afraid of," Zane Nixon said. Nixon owns multiple homes along Johnson Bend Road, built last summer. "All the concentration is on how to get people out here on Easter Sunday and just start getting the people that can stay in their homes, dry where they don't have water coming in when it starts raining later," Nixon said. Shallcross knows houses can be rebuilt. "It's this whole street. They're brand new," she said. She spends this Easter Sunday thankful and amazed that no one was hurt. The National Weather Service will be in the neighborhood Monday to survey the damage and determine if a tornado touched down.

Milestone reached in water activity centre build

The construction of a water activity centre has reached a long-awaited milestone. The building phase of the Edge in Whitehaven, Cumbria, has been completed, with the fitting out of the interiors due to start imminently. The £4.7m project, funded by Sellafield and the Coastal Communities Fund, was due to open in 2022, but the Covid-19 pandemic and challenges with the build significantly delayed the opening date, now planned for the summer. Deanne Shallcross, CEO of Whitehaven Harbour Commissioners (WHC) which is behind the project, said it "felt so amazing" to finally walk inside the building but there was still work to do. The Edge, built in front of the Golden Sands beach, is set to provide water sports facilities, a cafe, new slipway and accommodation for visitors exploring the area and cyclists tackling the Coast to Coast (C2C) route. Those behind the plans said they hoped it would attract about 10,000 visitors per year. Mrs Shallcross said there would be a "big push" for the work to be completed by the start of the school summer holidays. "We're really keen to take the next steps, there's a huge amount of work ahead still," she said. The three-storey building was designed to look like the sandstone pebbles that wash up during high seas in Whitehaven. Plans include using the building as a venue for community events and activities. Mrs Shallcross added: "The building is amazingly full of potential, but while the shell is complete, the inside is still fairly empty at the moment. "But it won't be long before it becomes a hive of activity." Follow BBC Cumbria on X, Facebook, Nextdoor and Instagram. New water activity centre 'to open by summer'

A water activity centre which was due to open three years ago will be ready by the summer, it has been revealed. The Edge in Whitehaven, Cumbria, was expected to open in summer 2022 but it has faced delays due to the Covid-19 pandemic and challenges during the construction. Those working on the project said the outer shell of the activity centre had been completed and work inside was due to start imminently. Deanne Shallcross, CEO of Whitehaven Harbour Commissioners, which is behind the activity centre, said: "The outer shell, people will have seen, looks virtually complete now - it's an incredibly iconic building." The multimillion-pound project, funded by Sellafield Ltd and the Coastal Communities Fund, is set to provide watersports facilities, a new slipway and accommodation for visitors exploring the coastline and cyclists tackling the C2C route. It is hoped it will attract about 10,000 visitors annually. Mrs Shallcross said work inside the building was expected to last about four months and she was excited for the activity centre to open. Funding was announced in March 2020 but a series of issues delayed the project several times. She said problems included electricity providers having to do extra work to connect the site, as well as challenges with the specialist cladding covering the structure. "Once the issues were overcome, it flew," she said, adding: "Each of them alone, it's not unusual for a big construction. "We've got to be due some luck."
