Shambhavi Kshirsagar, Ojasvi Thakur dominate air rifle
Shambhavi Kshirsagar and Ojasvi Thakur asserted India's dominance in air rifle by winning the gold and silver in the Junior World Cup shooting in Suhl, Germany.
Ojasvi had topped qualification in junior women's section with an impressive 633.2 points, 0.1 point ahead of Shambhavi, who eventually captured the gold with a 1.2 point margin over her compatriot, with a 10.8 last shot.
India's efforts were further enhanced in the mixed team event of air rifle on Sunday (May 25, 2025). Naraen Pranav and Khyaty Chaudhary were beaten to the gold 16-14 by China, while the other Indian pair of Shambhavi and Himanshu bagged the bronze by beating the USA 17-9.
Mukesh Nelavalli added to India's medal collection by winning the bronze in junior men's rapid fire pistol event.
In junior women's trap, Sabeera Haris (109), Bhavya Tripathi (108), Shreshtha Sisodiya (108) missed the cut at 111 for the final.
India was second on the medals table with two gold, four silver and four bronze, behind China, which had three gold and one bronze.
France was in the third place with two gold medals, while five other countries had at least one gold medal each.
