ORR-Kondapur flyover to be thrown open soon; traffic snarls set to ease
The government is dedicated to enhancing the city's infrastructure while keeping an eye on future requirements in every aspect. The newly-built multi-level flyover, which links the Outer Ring Road (ORR) to Kondapur and was constructed at a cost of Rs 178 crore, is scheduled to be inaugurated in the first week of June. Once operational, the flyover is expected to significantly ease traffic congestion at the busy Gachibowli Junction and improve connectivity through Hyderabad's IT corridor. Built under the Strategic Road Development Programme (SRDP), the six-lane flyover spans 1.2 km and is 24 meters wide. It is the third-level flyover at the location, built above the existing Gachibowli Junction and Shilpa Layout Phase 1 flyovers. According to GHMC, its unique feature lies in being a third-level structure constructed atop two pre-existing flyovers. Below, the Gachibowli Junction Flyover, with the Shilpa Layout Phase 1 Flyover situated above it, and now the newly constructed Phase 2 Flyover has been added on top. The flyover will reduce the severe traffic snarls at the Gachibowli Junction to a large extent. The structure is designed to streamline traffic from ORR towards Kondapur and Hafeezpet, reducing travel time and bypassing frequent bottlenecks at Gachibowli. It will facilitate smoother travel between Kondapur and the Shamshabad Airport, offering a more direct and less congested route to the financial district and HITEC City. The GHMC officials accelerated the construction of the flyover. Despite previous delays caused by various factors, the project is nearing completion. Efforts are underway to finish the work by this month end, with plans for a launch by CM Revanth Reddy. Its inauguration represents a significant advancement in the enhancement of Hyderabad's infrastructure, said a senior official. Commissioner RV Karnan had made multiple visits to oversee the progress of the flyover and directed the project engineers to expedite the work. This marks the 23rd flyover completed under the SRDP, which aims to ensure signal-free travel and reduce congestion across Hyderabad. Of the 42 projects planned under SRDP, 37 have been completed with the addition of this flyover. The GHMC commissioner has set a target to complete the Falaknuma and Shastripuram Railway Over Bridges (ROBs) by July and August respectively. As part of the H-City project, the government has allocated Rs 7,032 crore for 58 urban infrastructure projects. These include 28 flyovers, 13 underpasses, four ROBs, three RuBs and 10 road widening works. Tenders have been finalised; several projects are expected to begin in June.

CM Chandrababu Naidu invites farmers to Amaravati capital relaunch ceremony
VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has extended an invitation to farmers of the capital region to participate in the grand ceremony on May 2, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi will officially relaunch construction works in Amaravati. Describing Amaravati as a divine capital, Naidu said the event will mark a turning point in Andhra Pradesh's history. During an interaction with farmers at his residence in Undavalli on Monday, he underlined the importance of the occasion, calling the construction of Amaravati a critical step for the State's future. He lauded the farmers' sacrifices, emphasising that it was only because of their goodwill that a world-class capital city could be envisioned. 'Your generosity will be remembered forever,' Naidu told the gathering. Listening to farmers' aspirations and concerns, the Chief Minister urged them to actively engage in every stage of Amaravati's development. He assured that the government will facilitate bank loans for the returnable plots allocated to farmers who contributed their lands under the land pooling scheme. Recalling the challenges faced since the capital was first announced in 2014, Naidu criticised the previous YSRCP government for creating confusion and betrayal. 'Despite attempts to provoke you and derail the capital project, you trusted us and gave 34,000 acres,' he said. 'Sadly, under the YSRCP, the farmers suffered, and Amaravati was branded as a 'graveyard' and a 'desert'. However, your five-year-long struggle and resilience preserved Amaravati.' Naidu reaffirmed that Amaravati's sanctity remains intact because of the farmers' commitment, and any future development will prioritise their welfare. He also discussed plans for additional land acquisition, clarifying that it will be strictly need-based, such as for the construction of the international airport, cricket stadium, and other key infrastructure projects. Drawing a parallel with the development around Hyderabad's Shamshabad Airport, Naidu explained that initial skepticism over land acquisition later led to significant economic growth, benefiting local farmers with soaring land values. He assured Amaravati farmers that a similar transformation awaits them. 'Connectivity through new bridges, inner and outer ring roads, and infrastructure development will attract major companies and investments,' he added. 'No decision will be taken against your interests.' Responding to requests, Naidu agreed to establish a memorial honouring those who lost their lives during the Amaravati capital movement. He announced plans for a museum chronicling the region's history from the Satavahana period to the present movement for Amaravati. Additionally, Naidu promised to launch a special programme to grant land titles to residents living in Gramakantham areas within the capital region who currently lack formal ownership documents. Ministers Ponguru Narayana, Anagani Satya Prasad, Vangalapudi Anitha, and MLA Tenali Sravan Kumar were among the leaders who participated in the meeting. Naidu concluded by reiterating his commitment to standing with the farmers at every step of Amaravati's development journey.

CM invites farmers to capital works relaunch ceremony
Amaravati: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has invited the capital region farmers to attend the ceremony marking the restart of Amaravati construction works. He said May 2 will mark a turning point in the history of Andhra Pradesh and that the construction of the capital is a crucial step in the development of the state. Naidu emphasised that it is only because of farmers' sacrifices that today a world-class capital is being built, and assured that the people of the state will forever remember the farmers' goodwill. He urged the farmers from the capital region villages to actively participate in every event and work related to Amaravati. The CM discussed the restart of capital works to be formally launched by the Prime Minister on May 2 and interacted with the farmers about their aspirations and concerns. Farmers from various villages within the capital region met with the Chief Minister at his residence in Undavalli. He promised that the government would take steps to facilitate bank loans for the returnable plots allotted to the farmers who contributed their lands for the construction of Amaravati. During the meeting, discussions were also held on additional land acquisition for capital needs. The Chief Minister clarified the farmers' doubts on this matter. 'When land acquisition was carried out for the Shamshabad Airport in Hyderabad, about 5,000 acres were taken, and some questioned the need. However, because of that foresight, not only was an international airport built, but large hotels, malls, and economic activity also flourished, raising the land values and benefiting the farmers there. Similarly, in Amaravati, additional land will be needed for the construction of the international airport and the cricket stadium,' he explained. Several more bridges will come up across the Krishna River. Inner and Outer Ring Roads will be developed. Connectivity to other regions will increase. The capital will expand, attracting large companies and investments. Do not fall prey to fears that land prices will fall because of additional acquisitions. There will be no distance between me and the farmers. Nothing will happen against your interests, the Chief Minister assured. When farmers requested the establishment of a memorial to honour those who lost their lives in the capital movement, Chandrababu Naidu agreed and said a museum would be set up to chronicle the developments from the Satavahana period to the Amaravati movement. Ministers Narayana, Anagani Satya Prasad, Vangalapudi Anitha, MLA Tenali Sravan Kumar, and others participated in this meeting.
