Fairhope teen recovering from neck gunshot wound; police still investigating

FAIRHOPE, Ala. (WKRG) — Saturday night, in the 200 block of Rock Creek Parkway in Fairhope, a gunshot was fired inside a home just before 8 o'clock. Impact100 Global Conference coming to Miramar Beach, Florida A 17-year-old rising senior at Fairhope High School was shot in the neck. She was quickly rushed to a hospital, where she remains in the trauma ICU at University Hospital in Mobile. She was last listed in stable condition. The search for who pulled the trigger continues as police investigators try and question more than a dozen teenagers who had gathered for what police believe was the beginning of a party. 'It was kind of a gathering, probably moving toward a party, but at that point we had a group that was together,' said Lt. Shane Nolte with Fairhope Police. Since the shooting, investigators have made some progress and have used the term 'person of interest'. 'We hope we have an idea, but we are going to continue that investigation to make sure we know who it is,' said said the shot came from a handgun, but at this point, investigators still need to talk to some of the teenagers who may have the information that would wrap up this investigation. 'We are still having to find those folks to get all the pieces we need to continue on in the investigation,' said Nolte. He said the problem they are running into is that some of the kids they need to talk to have already gone on summer vacation and are out of town, and in some cases out of said no adults were present at the time of the shooting. The homeowner is cooperative with the police. Reports of an 'accidental discharge' have not been confirmed.
