Oppi Kus '25: Music, fun, and unforgettable memories

In just three weeks, the South Coast's biggest music festival will take over the Douglas Mitchell Sports Grounds, promising two days of unforgettable entertainment on July 11 and 12. Shane Woolley of the Margate Round Table, shared details of the extensive preparations that go into staging the highly anticipated event and what festivalgoers can look forward to: Massive venue setup Everything happens in and around the spectacular tent. The massive structure, measuring 30×100 metres is erected from the Monday before the festival, with the Round Table team on site to ensure precise positioning. The venue also includes a dedicated children's tent and a separate artists' tent. World-class sound and lighting The event's sound, lighting, and screen setups are a major feature of the festival. 'Over the past two years, we've built a great relationship with our sound crew. They give us exceptional service and always incorporate our feedback to improve the experience year after year,' said Woolley. Star-studded line-up This year's festival will showcase 14 top South African artists from across the country. The Margate Round Table covers all artists' transport and accommodation costs, managing a complex logistical schedule to ensure timely sound checks and performances. 'Coordinating the travel and accommodation for the artists and their crews is an intricate process. Timing is key to ensure everything runs smoothly,' Woolley added.
