Five killed, 18 injured as tractor-trolley overturns in Bundi
Kota: Five people, including three women and two eight-year-old girls, were killed and 18 others injured when a tractor-trolley overturned and fell into a roadside ditch on State Highway-29 near Khatkad village under Raithal police station limits in Bundi district Thursday victims, all residents of Chotra Ka Kheda under Gendoli police station in Bundi, were on their way to attend a mass wedding of the
Bairwa community
in Matunda village, scheduled for Thursday evening.
The trolley was carrying around 25 passengers—mostly women and children—when the driver swerved to avoid a collision with a motorcycle, causing the vehicle to overturn into a ditch around 11:30 deceased were identified as Jyoti (35), Shantibai (55), Krishana (20), Kiran (8), and Komal (8). Eighteen others, including four minor girls and a boy, sustained injuries.
While most were admitted to Bundi district hospital, two critically injured were referred to MBS Hospital in Kota for advanced Sabha Speaker and Kota-Bundi MP Om Birla expressed grief over the tragedy and directed Bundi district officials to ensure proper medical care for the injured. Senior officials, including Kota divisional commissioner Rajendra Singh Shekhawat, Bundi collector Akshya Godara, and SP Rajendra Kumar Meena, visited the hospital and supervised relief efforts. CMHO Dr OP Samariya also monitored the to Raithal SHO Rajaram, the accident occurred due to the driver's attempt to avoid hitting a motorcyclist. The bodies of the deceased were handed over to their families after post-mortem later in the injured continue to receive treatment at Bundi district hospital, while two remain critical in Kota.
