Eid al-Fitr to Fall on Sunday, March 30, 2025
KUWAIT CITY, Mar 15: The Al-Ajari Scientific Center has announced that, based on precise astronomical calculations conducted by its specialists, the first day of Shawwal 1446 AH (Eid al-Fitr) will fall on Sunday, March 30, 2025.
Regarding the crescent moon sighting on the 29th of Ramadan 1446 AH, which corresponds to March 29, 2025, the center explained that conditions in Kuwait will make it difficult, if not impossible, to observe the crescent moon. It noted that the moon will be born at 1:57 PM on Saturday, but it will remain visible in the skies over Kuwait and Saudi Arabia for only 8 minutes. The official decision to begin the month of Shawwal will rest with the Sharia Sighting Authority.
The center further added that the crescent moon will remain visible in the skies of some Arab and Islamic capitals for a period ranging from 4 to 20 minutes, depending on the geographical location of each country. In certain Islamic cities, particularly those in Southeast Asia, the crescent moon will set before the sun, making it impossible to sight the moon in those areas on the designated sighting day.
