In Tripura's Dhalai district, police have apprehended six individuals in connection with the murder of Shariful Islam, a 24-year-old electrician. Shariful, missing since June 8, was found inside an ice-cream freezer at a shop in Gandacherra. Shariful , a resident of Agartala, had been missing since June 8. His body was recovered following a police investigation that traced him to a house in South Indranagar and later to a commercial shop in Islam worked with the Smart City Project in Agartala. 'When he came to meet him, Dr. Saha allegedly strangulated him to death in presence of Joydeep, Nabanita and Animesh,' a police officer the alleged murder, the group reportedly tied Shariful's hands and packed his body into a suitcase. 'Later, they tied the hands and packed his body in a suitcase and carried it to Gandacherra where Dibakar's parents used to stay and stored the suitcase in a fridger of his father's shop,' the officer investigation into the case is ongoing.

Six people were arrested on Wednesday after the body of a man was found in a suitcase stored in a freezer in Tripura's Dhalai district, nearly three days after he went missing from Agartala. The arrested accused include a cousin of a girl the man, Shariful Islam, was in love with, police said. 'We arrested six persons, Dr Dibakar Saha, 28, his father Dipak Saha, 52, mother Debika Saha, 40, Nabanita Das, 25, Joydeep Das, 20, Animesh Yadav, 21. A love triangle was the reason behind the murder. Shariful was having an affair with a girl. Dibakar, a cousin of the girl, was also in love with her. We found messages of love exchanged from their mobile phones,' said Kiran Kumar, Superintendent of Police, Tripura West. Shariful, 24, was engaged in the Smart City project as an electrician. The police said that Dibakar had invited Shariful to Joydeep's house in South Indranagar on June 8 to give him some gifts. When Shariful went there, Dibakar allegedly strangled him in the presence of Joydeep, Animesh and Nabamita. He then allegedly stuffed Shariful's body into the suitcase by tying the hands. Dibakar took the suitcase to Gandacherra and stored it inside an ice cream fridge at his father's shop on June 9, the police said, adding that he had bought the suitcase two days before the murder. A missing-person complaint was lodged at the New Capital Complex police station on June 9 by Shariful's family.

The police identified the suspects as Dr. Dibakar Saha (28), his father Dipak (52), mother Debika (40), Nabanita Das (25), Joydeep Das (20), and Animesh Yadav (21). Shariful Islam, an Agartala resident who used to work as an electrician in the Smart City Project, went missing on June 8. 'A missing complaint was lodged at the New Capital Complex (NCC) police station on June 9,' a senior police officer said. Shariful allegedly had an affair with Dibakar's cousin, who Dibakar was also in love with, superintendent of police (SP) of West district Kiran Kumar said. 'The reason behind it (murder) was a love triangle. Shariful had an affair with a girl. Dibakar, who is cousin brother of the girl, also fell in love with her. We found love message exchanged from both of their mobile phones. We arrested six persons in this case till now,' SP Kumar said.
