Int'l flights from Jaipur delayed due to airspace restrictions; officials attribute disruption to Iran-Israel tensions
Jaipur: Schedules for Sharjah-bound flights from Jaipur were disrupted for the second consecutive day due to airspace restrictions. Over the past two days, Air Arabia flights between Jaipur and Sharjah have been delayed by four to five hours as flights arrived late from their destinations.
Officials attributed the delay and disruption in services to the ongoing tension between Iran and Israel, which also inconvenienced the passengers.
On Monday, Air Arabia flight G9436 departed from Jaipur at 7:46am, three hours later than its usual 4:45am schedule. The same flight left at 10:16am Tuesday. Officials said the flight arrived late on both days.
In a statement regarding the delays, Air Arabia said, "Due to ongoing events and airspace closures, some of our flights remain cancelled or affected.
We are closely monitoring the situation and doing our utmost to minimise the inconvenience caused."
SpiceJet Airlines flight SG57 from Jaipur to Dubai was also delayed by over four hours Tuesday. The flight was scheduled to take off at 8:55am but departed at 1:03pm and reached Dubai at 2:53pm, instead of the scheduled 11:10am.
A senior official from Jaipur airport said, "Most international flights from Jaipur, which are on the route that has been disturbed due Iran-Israel tension, are getting affected due to airspace restrictions. Facilities for passengers are being made available at the airport to avoid inconvenience."
