Competitions for U12 and kids categories were held on the final day which saw Baniyas Jiu-Jitsu Club claiming the top spot in the medal standings, with Sharjah Self-Defense Sports Club securing second place and Al Jazira Jiu-Jitsu Club finishing third. The final day saw strong support from families and jiu-jitsu fans, who gathered to cheer on the participants. Their presence added to the event's energetic atmosphere and strengthened community ties, further establishing the championship as a prominent platform for social and cultural engagement. The competitions were attended, and the winners crowned, by a host of dignitaries, including H.E. Abdulmunem Alsayed Mohammed Alhashmi, Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, President of the Ju-Jitsu Asian Union, and Senior Vice President of the International Jiu-Jitsu Federation; H.E. Mohamed Salem Al Dhaheri, Vice Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation; H.E. Yousef Abdullah Al Batran, Board Member of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation; H.E. Zayed Dorazahi of UAEJJ ARENA, who won gold in the Kids Boys /White / 24kg division, said, 'I'm very happy to win the gold medal. I trained hard with my coach and teammates and put in a lot of effort to prepare. I started practising jiu-jitsu four years ago with my brother Khalid and sister Maya. I thank my family for always encouraging me, and I hope to compete in more tournaments and win more medals.' The championship continues its successful run, with the fourth round scheduled for June, amid growing interest in a sport that has become a key component of the local sporting landscape. Sharjah Self-Defense Sports Club celebrate a decade of excellence

In a celebration of sporting excellence and national pride, the Sharjah Self-Defense Sports Club marked its 10th anniversary with a ceremony that highlighted a decade of groundbreaking achievements—both on and off the mat. Over the past ten years, the club has amassed an astonishing 7,800 medals in local and international competitions, spanning across specialised disciplines including jiu-jitsu, judo, taekwondo, karate, wrestling, mixed martial arts, and even tug of war. These are figures rarely matched by any sports institution in such a short period. The club's success was celebrated in a ceremony held at the Sharjah Sheraton Hotel, under the patronage of the Sharjah Sports Council and themed 'A Decade of Commitment and Inspiration.' The event was graced by Sheikh Mohammed Bin Hamid Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Department of Statistics and Community Development, who also honored key strategic partners and sponsors. Also in attendance were members of the club's board of directors, community leaders, and sports officials. In his address, Ahmed Saeed Al Jarwan, Chairman of the Club's Board of Directors, revealed that the club now proudly includes over 1,500 athletes, most of whom are Emiratis. Beyond their medal haul, the club has also received 35 national and international honors, establishing their position as a leader in specialised combat sports. Jarwan extended heartfelt thanks to His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, for his continuous patronage. He also praised the steadfast support of Crown Prince Sheikh Sultan Bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Sheikha Jawaher Al Qasimi, and the Deputy Rulers of Sharjah, all of whom have contributed to the club's transformative journey. "The support of the Sharjah Sports Council was instrumental in helping the club implement its strategic plan and achieve its vision,' Al Jarwan stated. Engineer Hanadi Khalifa Al Kabouri, Executive Director of the club, described the journey as one that began with a dream and became a source of pride for the nation. 'Celebrating 10 years of success is a reflection of a dream that started small, became a bright reality, and evolved into a vision that the entire club family is proud of,' she said. 'This championship serves as an important platform for athletes across different age groups to test their abilities, build confidence, and develop a strong competitive mindset. It also reinforces core sporting values such as discipline, commitment, and respect, while preparing them for challenges in their athletic careers. 'The Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship was the first event to introduce the Under-12 category to No-Gi competitions during its inaugural edition last year. This step was taken to help young athletes adapt to a professional competition environment early on, ensuring they develop both physically and mentally to become the future of jiu-jitsu in the country.' The event featured bouts in the adults' and Youth A (for athletes aged 16 to 17) categories, offering a glimpse into the future of mixed martial arts in the UAE. The Youth A category showcased exceptional skills, technical discipline, and tactical responsiveness, underscoring the potential of young athletes. Meanwhile, the adults' category brought intense and thrilling matches, raising the overall level of the championship and underlining its role in developing athletes, refining their abilities, and inspiring them to achieve greater milestones. Omar Al Raisi of Sharjah Self-Defense Sports Club was delighted with his victory in the Youth A category, 56 kg. 'Winning the gold medal in this championship is a proud moment for me. It reflects the hard work and determination I put in during the preparation period. The matches were tough, but I managed to overcome the challenges through focus and the excellent support of the technical staff. This medal is just the start of a bigger journey, and I will continue to work hard to represent the national team in future events,' he said. Colombian athlete Fernanda Mendez from ADMA Academy thanked the organisers for giving female fighters a wonderful platform to showcase their skills. 'This championship is a great opportunity to grow and compete at a high level. It highlights the strong support for women's sports and the increasing presence of women in the field, which strengthens our position as athletes," she said. "My goal is to achieve the best results and continue to represent women honourably in this sport.' Mohamed Salem Al Dhaheri, Vice Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts Federation, underscored the championship's vital role in promoting mixed martial arts across the UAE. 'The diversity of participating categories fosters a comprehensive competitive environment, allowing athletes of all ages and experience levels to benefit from the opportunities provided by this championship,' he said. 'We are committed to creating pathways for youth to develop their talents and represent the UAE at their best in international competitions. By organising such championships, we reinforce the UAE's reputation as a leading destination for combat sports development in the region.' Antonio Inacio, Shabab Al Ahli Club coach, highlighted the significance of the championship as a platform for growth. 'This event serves as an excellent start to the season and is shaping up to be one of the strongest national championships, featuring a top-tier group of talented athletes," Inacio said. "The championship provides an invaluable development opportunity, allowing athletes to test themselves against high-performance standards.'
