1.8 Million SharkNinja Pressure Cookers Have Been Recalled
If you're the proud owner of a SharkNinja Foodi Multi-Function Pressure Cooker, be careful. The brand just recalled over 1.8 million of the popular devices due to a serious burn hazard. No matter how much you love your Ninja Foodi products, you'll want to check to see if yours is included in the recall before using it to cook your next meal.
The problem stems from an issue with the pressure-cooking lid, which doesn't lock properly. The result: People have accidentally been able to open them while the cooker is in use, causing a risk of burn injuries. To date, SharkNinja has received more than one hundred reports of burn issues, over half of which involve second- or third-degree burns on the body or face.
The recall is for the SharkNinja Foodi OP300 Series Multi-Function Pressure Cookers, all of which were sold in the black colorway and have a 6.5-quart capacity. OP300 series replacement pressure cooker lids that were purchased separately are also part of the recall, as they have the same defect that prevents them from locking properly while in use.
If you have a SharkNinja Food Multi-Function Pressure Cooker, determining whether or not yours is among the models being recalled is relatively simple. Just check the model number printed on the label on the side of the cooker. Models that are part of the recall include the following:
OP300
OP301
OP301A
OP302
OP302BRN
OP302HCN
OP302HAQ
OP302HW
OP302HB
OP305
OP305CO
OP350CO
You may see additional numbers following the model number, but those are not part of the model designation. If your model contains any of the above model numbers, it's been recalled.
If you discover that your SharkNinja Foodi is among those that have been recalled, stop using its pressure-cooking function immediately. Then, reach out to SharkNinja for a free replacement lid that will allow you to safely use the pressure-cooking function. In the meantime, you can continue to use the air frying function and other functions as you normally would.
