East Meredith man indicted on 8 counts of child sex abuse

DELHI, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – An East Meredith man is facing an eight-count indictment of felony sexual abuse of a child on multiple occasions in 2024, Delaware County District Attorney Shawn Smith announced Friday. 20-year-old Mario A. Sierra, of East Meredith, is being accused of committing multiple sexual acts with a person under 15 years old in July of 2024 in both Otsego County and Delaware County. Two counts of felony rape in the second degree and one count of criminal sexual act in the second degree allege Sierra committed sexual acts on a child in the City of Oneonta in July 2024. The other five counts, four being rape in the second degree and one count of criminal sexual act, allege Sierra committed sexual acts against a child in the Town of Meredith in July 2024. Sierra appeared in Delaware County Court on Friday, May 23, for arraignment and was set bail of $25,000 cash, $50,000 bond or $100,000 partially secured bond. Sierra was taken into the custody of the Delaware County Correctional Facility, in lieu of bail. DELHI, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – A Colchester man appeared in Delaware County Court on Thursday and was indicted on several drug crimes. District Attorney Shawn Smith announced that a Grand Jury returned a five-count indictment against 45-year-old Brian Shear Jr. Count One accuses Shear of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, a Class B Felony. It is alleged that Shear, on or about April 13, knowingly and unlawfully sold a hallucinogenic substance to another individual. Count Two alleges Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, a Class B Felony. Shear is being accused of knowingly and unlawfully selling cocaine to another individual on or about April 13. Count Three accuses Shear of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, a Class B Felony. It is alleged that on or about April 13, Shear knowingly and unlawfully possessed fentanyl with the intent to sell it. Count Four alleges Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, a Class B Felony. Shear is being accused of knowingly and unlawfully possessing methamphetamine or its preparations, compounds, salts, isomers, or salts of isomers with intent to sell it on April 13. The substances were of an aggregate weight of one-eighth ounce or more. Count Five alleges Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, a Class B Felony. Shear is being accused of knowingly and unlawfully possessed a hallucinogen, psilocybin, with the intent to sell it on April 13. The substance weighed twenty-five milligrams or more. DELHI, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – A Delhi man is being accused of raping another person. Delaware County District Attorney Shawn Smith announced the unsealing of a five-count indictment against 34-year-old John Pierre Regazzi. Count One accuses Regazzi of Rape in the First Degree, a Class B Felony. It is alleged that Regazzi, on August 1, 2024, had sex with another person without their consent and by forcible compulsion. Count Two alleges Criminal Sexual Act in the First Degree, a Class B Felony. Regazzi, on August 1, 2024, allegedly engaged in oral sexual conduct with another person without their consent and by forcible compulsion. Count Three accuses Regazzi of Assault in the Third Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor. It is alleged that Regazzi, on August 1, 2024, with the intent to cause physical injury to another person did cause injury to another person. Count Four alleges Menacing in the Second Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor. It is alleged that Regazzi on August 1, 2024, intentionally placed another individual in reasonable fear of physical injury, serious physical injury, or death, by displaying a dangerous instrument. Count Five accuses Regazzi of Unlawful Imprisonment in the Second Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor. Regazzi allegedly restrained another person. The office says due to its policy, the victim is not being named at this time. Woman pleads guilty to burglarizing business in Roxbury

DELHI, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – A Delaware County woman admitted to burglarizing a Town of Roxbury business during her court appearance on Tuesday. Delaware County District Attorney Shawn Smith announced that 40-year-old Elizabeth Motts pleaded guilty to Burglary in the Third Degree. On February 13, New York State Police responded to Mountainside Creamery for a report of stolen items. The items taken included steel press plates, cooper wire rolls, and yellow brass solids. Signs of forced entry were discovered. Troopers noted that a former employee had stolen copper wire in November 2024. Troopers interviewed the owner of a local scrap yard. On February 10, law enforcement was sent to the scrap yard for an ongoing domestic dispute. Motts was fighting with a male while unloading several metal sheets onto the scales that would later be confirmed to be stolen. Motts admitted to assisting in the burglary of Mountainside Creamery and to the transportation of the stolen metal materials to the scrap yard. 'I want to thank Troopers Carey and Carron of the New York State Police for their diligent work on this case. Not only was a burglary of a prominent local business solved, but a whole separate business was able to have their property returned to them,' said Smith. Masonville man admits to stabbing pregnant wife, injuring two kids

DELHI, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – The Masonville Man accused of murdering his pregnant wife and stabbing his two children has accepted responsibility for the crimes. Delaware County District Attorney Shawn Smith announced on Tuesday that 33-year-old Drew Garner changed his plea to guilty on Monday. Garnier previously pleaded not guilty to the incident on September 11, 2024. On September 4, 2024, Garnier stabbed his wife Samantha Garnier, 29, and their two children in their home on Houck Road in the Town of Masonville. Samantha died as a result, and the children suffered significant injuries. Masonville man charged with murdering pregnant wife, stabbing his kids On March 25, Garnier pleaded guilty to Manslaughter in the First Degree, a Class B Violent Felony. He also pleaded guilty to two counts of Assault in the First Degree, each Class B Violent Felonies. Garnier withdrew all of his pending motions and agreed to waive his right to appeal as part of the plea agreement. As part of the plea, Garnier will be sentenced to 30 years in state prison, followed by 15 years of post-release supervision. Garnier was remanded to the custody of the Delaware County Sheriff's Office. Final sentencing will occur on May 13.
