Shelby Co. man arrested for terrorist threats, disorderly conduct
SHELBY COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — A Shelby County man was arrested over the weekend for threatening to shoot teachers and students at a school on TikTok.
On April 12, the Shelby County Sheriff's Office was tipped off about the threats by the FBI Office in Springfield. Investigators learned that the threat came from the Lakewood, Illinois area.
Arrest made in Springfield homicide investigation
The FBI, Shelbyville Police and Shelby County Sheriff's Office continued to investigate. They identified 23-year-old Joseph Jenkins of Lakewood as a suspect.
On April 13, the FBI, Shelbyville Police and Shelby County Sheriff's Office located Jenkins at his home. He admitted to making the TikTok, and was arrested by the Sheriff's Office for terrorist threats and disorderly conduct.
Jenkins was detained in the Shelby County Jail on Monday.
