Sydney young gun Angus Sheldrick attracting ‘strong interest' from rival clubs including West Coast

West Coast are keeping tabs on two out-of-contract midfielders as they look to bring in more players to accelerate their rebuild. The Eagles remain rooted to the bottom of the ladder with just one win this season after conceding the last four goals to North Melbourne on Sunday to slump to their 12th loss. Still two wins and percentage behind 17th-placed Richmond, a second wooden spoon in the space of three years seems very likely. But West Coast are once again looming as active players in the trade period after last year they brought in Richmond premiership players Liam Baker and Jack Graham, as well as Carlton goalsneak Matt Owies. 7NEWS Perth reporter Ryan Daniels revealed the Eagles are among a host of clubs interested in Sydney's emerging star Angus Sheldrick and young Docker Neil Erasmus. Sheldrick, who was drafted with pick No.18 in the 2021 draft, is originally from Western Australia and played his junior footy for Claremont. After playing just nine senior games in his first three years at the Swans, the 21-year-old is enjoying a strong recent run of form. Sheldrick was subbed off in the opening game of the season before being dropped and playing his next five senior games as the starting substitute. However, he has started the past three and been a strong contributor, averaging 23 touches and six tackles. Erasmus is another young player generating interest from rival clubs. The 21-year-old was also taken in the 2021 draft, going at pick No.10 to Fremantle. Like Sheldrick, Erasmus has also been in and out of the Dockers side, but has played the past four games this year. West Coast are among a number of clubs with 'strong interest' in the midfielder, according to Daniels. Meanwhile, Daniels added that Melbourne have put forward a contract extension to Kysaiah Pickett in a bid to complete the emerging superstar. Pickett has produced a string of stunning performances this year to see his value skyrocket. The 24-year-old's future remains in the spotlight despite being contracted at the Demons until the end of 2027. He has constantly been linked to a move back to Western Australia with Fremantle reportedly in the box seat.
