Shelley's Deli unveils farm-themed murals
WEST CORNERS, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – A deli in West Corners has attracted lots of attention recently for its new, vibrant murals, and wants the public to take their photos in front of them.
Shelley's Deli is a restaurant style deli, and market in West Corners. As of recently, the side of the building features a farm-style mural of a pig, a cow, a chicken, and a barn, with the name 'Shelley's.'
The owner, Mike Shelley says his tattoo artist painted it in just 3 days. He also created two murals inside the building, one that says Shelley's and the other is a sunny landscape painted from the perspective of looking outside the barn doors.
Shelley says he's only heard good things about the murals, and is challenging his customers to take selfies with them.
'It started with the mural on the outside. Got such huge feedback from everybody loving it. And now, it's like impossible to drive by this place without smiling. And so, we continued on the mural on the inside, and I just thought it'd be a great idea to try to get people to just take their picture in front of the murals, and eventually fill my walls with the community photos, as far as a photo collage mural,' Shelley said.
Shelley plans to print out all of the photos taken in front of the murals, and create another mural using only those printed photos. If you post the photo online, use the hashtag Shelleysmob.
Shelley's Deli is open Monday through Saturday from 7 to 6 p.m. and 7 to 1 on Saturdays.
