The woman has since been identified as 67-year-old Shelli Perrey. Police have not said how Perrey died but said they were investigating her death as a homicide.
On Friday, police shared an update on the case. Through investigation, the department said, detectives identified a person they wanted to question: a 60-year-old man who was in a relationship with the victim.
During a search for the man on Wednesday, detectives found his vehicle near Kansas City International Airport. Inside the vehicle, police found the man's body. Police said it appeared that he took his own life.
FOX4 is not identifying the man because he has not been formally named as a suspect.
The case remained under investigation Friday.
