Shepherd of the Valley hosts senior resource fair
GIRARD, Ohio (WKBN) — Local seniors are getting connected with resources that may make life a little simpler. Shepherd of the Valley hosted a Senior Resource Fair Wednesday, brining together a wide range of local organizations and services, like home care, insurance, therapy, legal support and more. The event was free and open to the public, featuring more than 30 vendors from across the Mahoning Valley, designed to support the well-being of older adults and their caregivers. 'This a great opportunity for the local seniors in the community to come in and check out all of the vendors that we have and all of the services,' said Lauren Flauto, Shepherd of the Valley Director of Marketing. 'Whether it's about health-related services or downsizing, it's a great opportunity to come and learn more information.' WARREN, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – 'Well done, good and faithful servant… Enter into the joy of your Lord.' – Matthew 25:23 With profound love and gratitude for a life well-lived, we celebrate the homegoing of Mother Louise C. McGhee, who departed this life on Sunday, February 2, 2025. Born on June 23, 1938, in Brent, Alabama, she was the beloved daughter of the late Daniel Clark and Bessie Mae Howard. Find obituaries from your high school She was the devoted wife of the late Burrell T. McGhee, Sr., with whom she shared a life of love, faith, and family. Louise dedicated her life to service, both professionally and within her community. She was employed by Shepherd of the Valley as a private aide, where she provided compassionate care to those in need. Her heart for nurturing extended beyond her profession, as she lovingly opened her home as a foster parent for Trumbull County Children Services for 23 years. She cherished every child placed in her care, offering them love, stability, and faith. A woman of unwavering devotion, Mother McGhee was a devoted member of Monument of Faith Church of God in Christ generously supporting the ministry through giving and fundraising. She served as Mother of the Church and Intercessory Prayer Warrior. She was also an active member of the Pastor's Aide, Nurse's Guild, and Hospitality Committee, always lending a hand with grace and kindness. Her steadfast faith and service were a beacon of light to all who knew her. Louise found joy in the simple yet meaningful moments of life—spending time with her family, planting flowers, sewing, shopping, reading the Bible, and collecting elephants. She possessed a warmth that made everyone feel at home in her presence, and her legacy of love, wisdom, and faith will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched. She leaves to cherish her memory: Four sons; Michael McGhee of Warren, Mark (Teresa) McGhee of Warren, Christopher McGhee of Austintown, and Daniel McGhee of Warren. Seven daughters; Dianne (Roy) Warren of Clayton, North Carolina, Joyce McGhee of Youngstown, Rhoda (Rodney) Scott of Warren, Josephine McGhee of Warren, Sylvia (George) Carson of Howland, Peggy (Timothy) Cayson of Newton Falls, and Kila (Adrian) Jefferies of Texas. One brother; Joe Louis Jackson of Warren 38 grandchildren, 71 great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends. She is reunited in eternity with her beloved husband, Burrell T. McGhee, Sr., her dear son, Burrell T. McGhee, Jr., and her cherished siblings, Ella Green, Amanda Henton, Mattie Bryant, Dan Clark, and Nelson Clark. Though our hearts are heavy, we take comfort in knowing that she is now in the presence of the Lord, surrounded by His everlasting love. Louise C. McGhee's life was a testimony of faith, love, and service, and her memory will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.
