Deputies find 2 young children in suspect's car after Sacramento chase, crash
SACRAMENTO – Authorities say a suspect led deputies on a chase in south Sacramento with his two young children in the car – a pursuit that ended in a crash.
The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office says, Tuesday afternoon, deputies spotted a vehicle on Highway 99 with no license plates. Deputies tried to pull the suspect over, but the driver continued on.
With deputies in pursuit, the suspect – later identified as 28-year-old Xavier Torres – got off the freeway and drove into a neighborhood.
Just a couple minutes into the chase, deputies say the suspect crashed into a bystander's vehicle near Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and 23rd Avenue. Deputies quickly took Torres into custody and discovered that he had his two-year-old and six-month-old children in the car the whole time.

The children weren't hurt, the sheriff's office says, and the people who were in the other car struck suffered just minor injuries.
Deputies say they found a loaded handgun that had been reported stolen and a bindle of suspected cocaine in Torres' vehicle.
Torres was arrested and booked into Sacramento County Jail. He has since posted bond on his $75,000 bail, the sheriff's office says.
The children have been released to the custody of their mother, authorities say.
