Applications open for sheriff's citizen academy
CARTHAGE, Mo. — The Jasper County Sheriff's Office is offering citizens a unique insight into its day-to-day operations.
The office is accepting applications for its 27th semi-annual Sheriff's Citizen Academy.
Participants will meet from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. every Thursday from March 6 to May 8 at various locations around Carthage.
The academy will cover topics like the history of the sheriff's office, daily operations, and criminal investigations.
Applicants must be 18 or older and have no felony or serious misdemeanor convictions.
The program is free to the public.
