SCSO: Man out on bond arrested for kidnapping woman

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man out on bond was arrested on Tuesday after allegedly kidnapping a woman in Northaven, the Shelby County Sheriff's Office said. Jadea Gibson, 25, has been charged with kidnapping and false imprisonment for the incident. On May 20, deputies responded to a report of a kidnapping in the 5100 block of Corkwood Drive in Northaven. MPD arrests over 120 people in Operation Code Zero The victim told deputies that she'd met a man in the Northaven area and agreed to hang out with him the night before. During their time together, the suspect allegedly forced the victim to leave the area against her will and drove her to Frayser. While the vehicle was still moving, the victim managed to escape and run to safety. Detectives with the Sheriff's Office Violent Crimes Unit immediately launched an investigation. Through their efforts, they were able to positively identify the suspect as Jadea Gibson and obtained a warrant for his arrest. Marshals make two Memphis murder arrests in one day On Tuesday morning, deputies with the Fugitive Apprehension Team located and arrested Gibson without incident. Detectives learned that Gibson was out on a $10,000 bond on another kidnapping case, where MPD officers brought the charges. 'It's troubling that someone out on bond could commit such a terrible act,' Chief Deputy Anthony Buckner said. 'But thanks to the dedication of our team, he's no longer a threat to the community.'
