Troup County third graders become Junior Deputies for a day
COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — The Troup County Sheriff's Office hosted some excited and young guests yesterday.
The sheriff's office held their annual Sheriff For A Day event, in which one third grade student from each school in the county was chosen to represent their school. The sheriff's office says the day began with students being picked up by a deputy and brought to the sheriff's office, where they learned about almost every aspect and function of the office.
Students were able to see K-9s in action, learn about criminal investigations, jail divisions, court services and more.
The Sheriff For A Day is a culmination of the Junior Deputy program that is taught to all third graders throughout the year.
