Parents and child dead after possible murder-suicide in Katy apartment, sheriff says
The Brief The scene was reported on Park Row Boulevard near Price Plaza Drive. Authorities say a man shot and killed his wife and young son. The man died after he was flown to a hospital. KATY, Texas - Harris County authorities are investigating a possible murder-suicide that killed three people in the Katy area. What we know According to the sheriff, the shooting happened at 20110 Park Row Drive. He shared preliminary information on X at about 10:40 a.m. Saturday. When deputies arrived at the scene, they reportedly found a woman and a child deceased in an apartment. An adult male was flown to a hospital. In an update, the sheriff said the man was pronounced deceased when he arrived at the hospital. Sheriff Gonzalez posted a second update at about 12:30 p.m. According to him, it's believed the man shot and killed his wife and child. A pistol was recovered at the scene. Another family member allegedly told officials that the man was suffering from depression due to issues such as unemployment. The couple's 19-year-old daughter and her boyfriend were in a separate room at the time of the incident. They were not injured. What we don't know Authorities believe this may have been a double murder-suicide, but that has not been confirmed at this time. No one involved has been identified. Woman identified in deadly Cypress rollover crash, more information released
The Brief Charlotte Stegall was identified as the driver killed in Saturday's crash in Cypress. Officials say Stegall crossed into lanes going the opposite way on North Houston Road before veering off the roadway. The crash is still under investigation. CYPRESS, TX - Harris County officials have released new information regarding Saturday's deadly car crash in the Cypress area. What we know According to a news release from the Harris County Sheriff's Office, the driver killed in the crash has been identified as Charlotte Yvette Stegall. At about 3 p.m. on Saturday, Stegall was driving west on Cypress North Houston Road, then she allegedly crossed into the eastbound lanes. The vehicle then left the road, struck fences at multiple homes, then rolled to its right side before coming to a stop on all four wheels. Officials say Stegall was trapped in the vehicle due to the crash. Officials found her deceased at the scene. A sergeant at the scene said the woman was the only person in the vehicle. No other injuries were reported. The vehicle struck a power box, causing a power outage in a part of the neighborhood. CenterPoint was called to restore the power. According to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, the crash also caused a brief fire after the vehicle struck a gas BBQ bill. The sheriff's office says the case is still under investigation.
