The RSPCA is seeking 2,500 volunteers to help wildlife
The 'Wildlife Friends' initiative, launched in 2023, aims to create a million-strong movement to protect animals by undertaking simple tasks in gardens and outdoor spaces.
These tasks, such as creating mini wildlife ponds or providing wildlife drinking stations, help prevent injuries to animals and free up RSPCA staff to tackle cases of cruelty and neglect.
RSPCA volunteer experience partner Sherry Flanagan said: "This summer, a little kindness goes a long way.
"They are small acts of kindness which take a few minutes, but they will make a big difference to wildlife."
There are currently around 7,200 people volunteering with the RSPCA across England and Wales.
Volunteers sign up via an online app and choose from a menu of activities, logging details and pictures of their completed tasks.
More than 10,209 wild animals were admitted to RSPCA wildlife centres last year.
RSPCA head of volunteering Brian Reeves said: "All our volunteers are amazing and make a huge difference to animal welfare through the kind gift of their time, skills, and energy.
"We know animals are facing huge challenges and need our help more than ever."
