BTS' Jin 'worked nonstop to bring you new songs'' on his second solo EP 'Echo'

Jin of BTS released his second solo EP Echo on Friday, unveiling seven new tracks that explore a range of emotions and life moments under the central theme of resonance. If his previous release Happy focused on spreading joy, Echo turns inward. From love and friendship to moments of everyday decision-making, Jin delivers honest and relatable stories through music, filtered through his own perspective. The title track, Don't Say You Love Me , captures the emotional contradiction of clinging to a fading relationship. Despite the bittersweet subject matter, the track stands out for its gentle melody and Jin's delicate vocal delivery – a contrast that gives the song its impact. Ahead of his comeback livestream event, scheduled for 5 p.m. Friday on global fan platform Weverse, Jin shared his thoughts on the album through a written Q&A. How does it feel to return with your second solo EP Echo just six months after your last release? I've been appearing on a lot of variety shows lately, but because I'm a singer first and foremost, I really wanted to return with my own music and performances. Of course, there were moments I wanted to rest – but I worked hard because of that desire. I'm glad I can finally show Jin the singer again through this EP. Why did you choose Don't Say You Love Me as the title track? I wanted the album to include songs that are fun to perform – something you can enjoy even more live. Still, for the title track, I wanted a song that's easy on the ears. Don't Say You Love Me is slower than the others, but I felt confident that it would be the most comfortable to listen to. Is there a story behind writing the lyrics to the B-sides? When I write lyrics, I try to preserve the first feeling that comes to mind when I hear the track. For With the Clouds , I watched a lot of animation for inspiration. When I was working on Nothing Without Your Love , I imagined myself performing it onstage – and that made me emotional. I got so choked up at times, I couldn't even sing. What was it like acting alongside actress Shin Se-kyung in the Don't Say You Love Me music video? It was my first time acting with a professional actress, so it felt awkward and clumsy. I was nervous, and things didn't go as smoothly as I imagined. Still, I'm so thankful to Shin Se-kyung for her amazing performance. If you look closely, you might even spot how awkward I was. What's a recent moment that felt like an echo to you? In April, I appeared as a guest at Coldplay's concert in Korea. The crowd's singalong that night really stayed with me – it was powerful. I remember thinking how amazing it would be to have that kind of moment for myself one day. You've been active on variety shows on television lately. What's the reason behind that? I wanted to make sure fans could see me often and without much delay. I actually wanted to keep some of my charms hidden, but I guess that didn't work out – variety shows exposed everything. What do you hope listeners take away from this album? I love music that moves me. If listeners feel that same overwhelming emotion when they hear my new songs, that would mean the world. And if they find themselves imagining how it would feel to experience these songs in a concert hall – that would make me even happier. A final message to ARMY around the world? To all Army – I'll be coming to see you soon. Please wait just a little longer. I love you. – The Korea Herald/Asia News Network

BTS' Jin shares heartbreak anthem Don't Say You Love Me from album Echo

BTS' eldest member Jin has unveiled a soul-stirring new music video for the title track, 'Don't Say You Love Me', featuring acclaimed actor Shin Se-kyung. The track is part of his sophomore album 'Echo', which delves into themes of heartbreak, moving on, and lingering nostalgia. The album is now all-English ballad, 'Don't Say You Love Me' showcases Jin's vocal prowess like never before. The song captures the raw ache of love lost with a stripped-down arrangement and a chorus that allows his high notes to the track here: The music video adds another layer to the narrative, as it uses somber lighting and a melancholic visual tone and expressions that allow you to absorb the track's emotional depth. Shin Se-Kyung's features opposite Jin and add an emotional weight to the song.'Echo' is an important chapter in Jin's solo music career. He debuted as a soloist with his successful debut solo single, 'The Astronaut' right before he enrolled for military discharge, he released his first album 'Happy', which highlighted his soft rock and R&B sensibilities. With 'Don't Say You Love Me' leading the way, the album promises a more personal, introspective sound, a reflective moment for the artist before BTS' highly awaited reunion next

BTS' Jin partnered Singapore Tourism Board for music video shot in Singapore

The MV, which also stars South Korean actress Shin Se-kyung as Jin's love interest, showcases eight landmarks and hidden gems in Singapore. PHOTOS: HYBE LABELS/YOUTUBE SINGAPORE – The new music video from K-pop boy band BTS' member Jin – which features the South Korean singer in Singapore locations such as the National Gallery, Gardens by the Bay and Goldhill Plaza – was a collaboration between the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) and South Korean music label and entertainment company BigHit Music. It was released on May 16, three days after the 32-year-old artiste dropped a teaser clip. The English song, Don't Say You Love Me, is the main track off his second solo EP Echo, which was also released on May 16. The three-minute, 25-second MV, which also stars South Korean actress Shin Se-kyung as Jin's love interest, showcases eight landmarks and hidden gems in Singapore. The duo play a couple who are drifting apart. The rest of the locations are Anderson Bridge, Emerald Hill, Keng Eng Kee Seafood, Marina Bay and Singapore Flyer. In several scenes, Jin and Shin are seen in an apartment that overlooks Marina Bay, in a Singapore Flyer cabin, and running around in the National Gallery and Gardens by the Bay. Jin also shot scenes at Goldhill Plaza's rooftop carpark and on Anderson Bridge. Shin's solo scenes feature her on a night-time walk along Emerald Hill, and having a meal at Keng Eng Kee Seafood, a zi char restaurant in Bukit Merah that is listed in the Michelin Guide. A spokesperson from BigHit Music says in a statement: 'The collaboration with the Singapore Tourism Board beautifully brought together the charm of the local scenery and the message Jin hopes to share through his music.' Ms Serene Tan, STB's executive director, North Asia, tells The Straits Times that K-pop and South Korean content hold 'tremendous global influence' and 'offer strong storytelling potential'. She says: 'Jin's worldwide popularity and global reach provide a valuable platform to present Singapore's charm as a travel destination in a highly engaging and relatable way.' STB also worked with K-pop boy band Seventeen and BTS member J-Hope to create short social videos showcasing Singapore when they performed here as part of their world tours. Seventeen held concerts at the National Stadium on Jan 25 and 26, while J-Hope did shows at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on April 26 and 27. Ms Tan adds: 'We will continue our efforts to leverage K-content and welcome the opportunity to collaborate with more artistes on impactful storytelling that inspires travellers to visit Singapore. Upcoming initiatives include drama and variety show productions and branded entertainment content with K-pop artistes.' Join ST's Telegram channel and get the latest breaking news delivered to you.

[Q&A] 'I worked nonstop to show you new songs and performances,' says Jin as he drops second solo EP 'Echo'

Jin of BTS released his second solo EP 'Echo' at 1 p.m., Friday, unveiling seven new tracks that explore a range of emotions and life moments under the central theme of 'resonance.' If his previous release 'Happy' focused on spreading joy, 'Echo' turns inward. From love and friendship to moments of everyday decision-making, Jin delivers honest and relatable stories through music, filtered through his own perspective. The title track, 'Don't Say You Love Me,' captures the emotional contradiction of clinging to a fading relationship. Despite the bittersweet subject matter, the track stands out for its gentle melody and Jin's delicate vocal delivery — a contrast that gives the song its impact. Ahead of his comeback livestream event, scheduled for 5 p.m. Friday on global fan platform Weverse, Jin shared his thoughts on the album through a written Q&A. Q. How does it feel to return with your second solo EP 'Echo' just six months after your last release? I've been appearing on a lot of variety shows lately, but because I'm a singer first and foremost, I really wanted to return with my own music and performances. Of course, there were moments I wanted to rest — but I worked hard because of that desire. I'm glad I can finally show 'Jin the singer' again through this EP. Q. Still, for the title track, I wanted a song that's easy on the ears. 'Don't Say You Love Me' is slower than the others, but I felt confident that it would be the most comfortable to listen to. Q. Is there a story behind writing the lyrics to the B-sides? When I write lyrics, I try to preserve the first feeling that comes to mind when I hear the track. For 'With the Clouds,' I watched a lot of animation for inspiration. When I was working on 'Nothing Without Your Love,' I imagined myself performing it onstage — and that made me emotional. I got so choked up at times, I couldn't even sing. Q. What was it like acting alongside actress Shin Se-kyung in the 'Don't Say You Love Me' music video? It was my first time acting with a professional actress, so it felt awkward and clumsy. I was nervous, and things didn't go as smoothly as I imagined. Still, I'm so thankful to Shin Se-kyung for her amazing performance. If you look closely, you might even spot how awkward I was. Q. Any memorable moments from filming the music video? There was a scene in the parking lot, and the wind was just out of control that day. My hair was blowing everywhere — it was impossible to act. In the end, I changed my hairstyle and shot the scene differently than originally planned. I think it ended up giving off a fresh new vibe, so I was satisfied. Q. What's a recent moment that felt like an 'echo' to you? In April, I appeared as a guest at Coldplay's concert in Korea. The crowd's singalong that night really stayed with me — it was powerful. I remember thinking how amazing it would be to have that kind of moment for myself one day. Q. Any fun stories from working with Coldplay again? When I heard the band was coming to Korea, I really hoped we could work together again — and thankfully, the feeling was mutual. That's why I call them 'my hyungs (older brothers).' I saw they were still carrying around the 'Wootteo' character plushie I gave them on tour. It's probably been through a lot — so I gave them a fresh one. Q. You've been active on variety shows on television lately. What's the reason behind that? I wanted to make sure fans could see me often and without much delay. I actually wanted to keep some of my charms hidden, but I guess that didn't work out — variety shows exposed everything. Q. What do you hope listeners take away from this album? I love music that moves me. If listeners feel that same overwhelming emotion when they hear my new songs, that would mean the world. And if they find themselves imagining how it would feel to experience these songs in a concert hall — that would make me even happier. Q. A final message to ARMY around the world?

Eagle-eyed fans were quick to recognise scenes from the National Gallery Singapore in the teaser clip for Jin's music video for his upcoming solo track Don't Say You Love Me. The song is part of his upcoming mini-album Echo. The 38-second snippet shows Jin wandering the museum before crossing paths with Korean actress Shin Se-kyung on the lower link bridge, as the crowd and background melt away.
