Beyond Paradise leaves us with one unanswered question as show future 'sealed'
Beyond Paradise aired its last episode of the series tonight (Image: (Image: BBC)) Beyond Paradise aired its final episode of the series tonight as Humphrey Goodman tackled a difficult new case that involved a woman who had disappeared on her way to work. The hit BBC detective drama - featuring Kris Marshall, Sally Bretton and Zahra Ahmadi in the lead roles - was back tonight for one final episode of its third series as the team tackled a seemingly impossible case. In the new episode, the police of Shipton Abbot were investigating the case of a young woman who had disappeared - but soon they realised that her disappearance actually coincided with the disappearance of another woman. As the series wrapped up, a lot of the final storylines were explained including how PC Kelby Hartford took the dog that had been guarding the women and given it a new life after the culprits were arrested. The cast of Beyond Paradise (Image: BBC) It was also shown Humphrey and Martha waving goodbye to young Rosie, who they had fostered. Her mum had been allowed to have her back and a care plan was put in place to ensure she was ok. However, one storyline did get left in the air. Throughout the series, Esther had been seeing Martha's former flame Archie. The pair had shared some time together, before Esther called it off. In the end, there had been real hopes they might get back together but she decided she couldn't do it. Archie asked her why she was so scared about them being together or letting her guard down, but she just drove off. Could this be proof there's a new series in the works or will we never find out what really happens to Esther and Archie? Now fans are likely to be thinking what will happen between Archie and Esther. Before the start of the series, speaking about the chance of romance, Jamie said of Archie's prospects: "He's come back ready for other relationships. He's not the kind of man who's happy being a 'solo traveler' through life - he's looking for partnership. "And without spoiling too much, he will give it a go somewhere in Shipton Abbott this season." Of course, we now know that's with Esther, who is also feeling good about herself and her romance chances, according to actress Zahra, who has played Esther in all three series of the BBC show. "At this point in the series, she's in such a good place that she's unknowingly giving off a different kind of energy - it's attracting a different kind of man than she's used to. She's hesitant at first because this person isn't someone she'd usually go for," she said. "But this new, more confident version of Esther thinks, 'OK, let's see where this goes.' Things end up going further than she initially expected, which creates some challenges and forces her to think seriously about the situation. It's not something she's allowed herself to get into since Zoe's dad, so it's been a long time coming." Like this story? Beyond Paradise detectives face devilish mystery in exclusive season 3 finale clip
Beyond Paradise will delight viewers with its most intense mystery yet, as Kris Marshall's Humphrey Goodman and the team at Shipton Abbott are faced with a strange case when a woman goes missing. In an exclusive clip from the show's season 3 finale, Kelby (Dylan Llewellyn) is left exasperated by a man called Josh Woods who he says will be "the death of" him before the man himself appears, running into the officer and trying desperately get the team's help. His partner Lucy has gone missing but not before she left him an ominous voice message that appears to indicate something bad has happened to her. As Kelby tries to chase Josh around the table it's Humphrey who forces the pair to stop and play nice so that they can discuss the case. Josh reveals he tried to call Lucy but her phone is switched off and she didn't turn up at work at the local hospital, and he shares his concern that her disappearance is linked to the Devil's Hump — a local folktale and legend along the Devon coast. Josh wonders whether the Devil's Hump could be a part of the mystery, saying that Lucy "always cycles over it". Kelby and Humphrey question whether they should be believing in a folk tale, but Margo (Felicity Montagu) says: 'It's said to be put there by the devil himself, if you have bad thoughts when you go over it..." with Josh finishing the quote by saying: "The devil can take your soul." It teases a compelling mystery with a supernatural twist to end the series, with the BBC sharing in their summary of the episode that the Devil's Hump could "hold a vital clue" to the case. Marshall previously told Yahoo UK and other publications that it is his favourite case of the show thus far. "I think the puzzle in episode 6, and the solving of the puzzle, is probably the most incredible —and incredibly intricate— puzzle I've ever witnessed in TV," the actor said. "It's insane, it's so clever. I don't know how they wrote it, it's brilliant." Marshall added that what he enjoys best about the BBC crime drama is how innovative it is when it comes to its cases: "I think what's good about Beyond Paradise is that it has become more representative of this environment, and the sort of rural wild beauty of the place. "I think that's great because it makes you realise there's only a certain amount of ways you can murder someone on a TV series but there are myriad ways that you can rustle sheep or steal art, or commit arson in a show. We've got all those kinds of crimes going on." The Beyond Paradise season 3 finale airs at 8pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.

BBC Beyond Paradise fans issue same complaint over 'spooky' episode
Beyond Paradise viewers were left with 'nightmares' after the latest episode of the BBC show on Friday night. The latest episode of Beyond Paradise had viewers on the edge of their seats with a chilling start that saw two farmers, a father and his daughter, eerily hanging corn dolls in a barn under the cover of darkness. Tension escalated when the daughter, investigating a strange noise, was suddenly floored by an unseen assailant. The situation turned even more sinister as they encountered a creepy figure donning a corn man mask in the doorway. Audiences were quick to express their unease on social media, with many finding the BBC drama's opening too terrifying for comfort. The official Beyond Paradise Twitter account ominously posted about the episode: "Nightmares, nightmares forever." Viewers echoed this sentiment, with one commenting: "Okay so yeah that is me having nightmares for the next week." Another emphatically stated: "And that is a hard no thank you from me." Comments continued to pour in, with one person noting: "This episode is very spooky." While another tweeted: "I dibb this as the Halloween episode." Some fans experienced déjà vu, drawing parallels between the corn man and Doctor Who 's scarecrows, as one viewer remarked: "Corn man in Beyond Paradise reminds me of those Scarecrows from Doctor Who" Another agreed, saying: "That thing is giving scarecrows from Doctor Who!" Despite the frights, there were those who reveled in the horror, with a fan praising: "Oh my god that shot of the scarecrow in front of the fire is mental! That was so cool!" The mysterious events unfolded with eerie incidents such as knocked-over milk containers in the barn and hay fires on the farm, as the team worked to unmask the person behind the ominous cornman disguise. Meanwhile, DI Humphrey (Kris Marshall) had his hands full on the home front, reports the Express. In a poignant scene, viewers saw Humphrey and Martha Lloyd (Sally Bretton) accompany their new foster daughter Rosie (Bella Rei Blue Stevenson) to her first day at Shipton Abbott's Primary School, where they helped calm her nerves with words of reassurance. Before the series began, Sally Bretton, who plays Martha Lloyd, discussed the challenges the couple would face as they adjusted to life with Rosie. In an interview, Bretton shared: "The balancing act is challenging. On paper, Martha was supposed to be the primary carer, especially with Humphrey's work commitments, but she ends up taking on a lot more than expected. "She is managing her business, looking after Rosie, and trying to keep everything in order - it's a lot. But despite the struggles, they both fall in love with Rosie, and it becomes a deeply rewarding experience for them. "They go through a whole range of emotions, but in the end, it's something they'll always look back on as a very special chapter in their lives." Beyond Paradise is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
