McNally's prepares for its re-opening next week under new ownership

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — The wait is almost over. A one-time popular Irish restaurant in Sioux Falls is set to reopen next week. McNally's, which has been closed for the past five months, is under new ownership. 'There are very few places around here that you can get this type of atmosphere,' part-owner Melissa Dougan said. Jamie Smith to make announcement Saturday After a month and a half of scrambling, the new owners, including John and Melissa Dougan, say they're beginning to see light at the end of the tunnel. The two once owned the Shipwreck at Brant Lake near Chester before making the decision to sell it a few years ago. 'It was just time for our family at the point of our lives to sell it, but I said to my husband John right away, 'I'm not done, I'm not done in the business,' he knew it, everybody knew it, but I didn't think I'd get back in this soon, but I was really excited and to be able to do it in Sioux Falls was really huge for me,' Dougan said. They didn't have to do a lot of remodeling, but the new owners added a few things to make it their own. One of the biggest changes at McNally's is something you might not notice right away, until you sit down and order from the menu. 'Fan favorites are still there, Irish favorites are still there, but we did add a fryer so we added a couple of different dimensions to the menu and added some more fun Irish things that weren't on the menu before but it's going to be exciting and to get some feedback on the food we've added,' Dougan said. 'I think McNally's is a very well known staple in the community, especially in this neighborhood and it's great to be a part of the community and opening it back up and give back to the community that held it close to their heart here in the town,' Castro said. Castro says the outdoor patio is going to be special. 'I'm super excited about the patio, it's kind of its own dimension, its own bar, I mean anything you can get inside you can get outside, we're going to try to utilize it to the best of its ability,' Castro said. Including adding several TV's and hosting live music, but it will still have an Irish feel. 'Same bones, but kind of a little bit of a different look, you know McNally's is still McNally's and we're coming back,' Castro said. McNally's officially opens for business next Tuesday, June 3rd.
