Martin Kemp doubles down after shocking fans with VERY rude swipe at his sex life with wife Shirlie Holliman in defiant This Morning interview

Martin Kemp broke his silence on This Morning after shocking fans with a very cheeky swipe at his sex life with wife Shirlie Holliman. The 63-year-old musician shocked the Loose Women panel last month with a brutal bedroom confession in a conversation about scheduling intimacy with a partner. The Spandau Ballet star, who has been married to Shirlie since 1988, was sceptical: 'If I had to look in my diary and it says 7:30pm on a Thursday night, I'm going to do it... I don't think it works. 'I even feel under pressure if it's a Sunday morning!... "Oh it's Sunday morning, I'm going to have to do it in a minute".' So, when he appeared on This Morning today to promote his new book, hosts Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley could not resist asking about his outrageous confession. When he appeared on This Morning today to promote his new book, hosts Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley could not resist asking about his outrageous confession Sitting down with Ben, 50, and Cat, 48, on the ITV chat show, he defended himself: 'You cut out the bit where I say, "Get yourself ready Shirl, I'm coming home!"' He emphasised, smiling, that the moment was all in good humour and there were no hard feelings: 'My family have grown up taking the mickey out of each other. 'We're really open, sex isn't taboo, never has been.' Martin said this was a welcome change from his own upbringing: 'Growing up, if we saw people kissing on TV, people would pretend to be asleep. 'I'm really happy that we can joke about it.' The star was taking to the This Morning sofa primarily to promote his new book, The Fall, a follow-up to his debut novel The Game, released in November 2023. The new crime thriller, which came out today, again follows Johnny Klein, a past-it eighties pop icon whose dark past caught up to him in the series' first instalment. Having narrowly escaped, he is now living in the French Riviera in this newest book - but he finds there is no getting away so easily. But elsewhere in Martin's publication day interview, he also spoke about his involvement in Celebrity Gogglebox, which he films with his son, presenter Roman Kemp, 32. Martin said: 'It's the only way I get to see him! I've got a cottage at the end of the garden and we film it. It's how we get him home!' It came after his appearance on Loose Women last month alongside Kaye Adams, 62, Paul C Brunson, 50, and Judi Love, 44, for a mash-up with Loose Men. During the conversation about scheduling intimacy, Celebs Go Dating expert Paul admitted he thinks it's a good idea. But Martin, just before making his outrageous confession about his own sex life, disagreed with Paul, saying: 'I don't think you can schedule sex. 'If I had to look in my diary and it says 7:30pm on a Thursday night, I'm going to do it... I don't think it works.' The live audience started laughing to which Martin asked: 'Oh, so everyone in here does it on a Sunday morning? I know. 'But I do! I feel that pressure... Paul went on to explain couples apparently only spend, on average, an hour per week together. He said: 'What I'm saying is you can schedule a time where you are just going to eat together. You don't have to say sex.' Martin asked: 'So, you're talking a date night?' 'It could be a date night, we're going to have some wine, we're going to watch something. And then who knows what will happen,' Paul explained. Later on in the segment, anchor Kaye asked if he will do it, to which he said: 'I will definitely give it a try. 'I'll give Shirl a call in a minute,' he quipped, as he looked down at his watch. 'I'll book it in... Hang on, this is going out live isn't it?' Martin then pointed down at the camera and said: 'Shirl, get yourself ready, I'm on the way home.' Martin and Shirlie (pictured in 1998) met back in the 80s after Martin laid eyes on her in 1982 while she was performing as part of Wham! on Top of the Pop Martin and Shirlie met back in the 80s after Martin laid eyes on her in 1982 while she was performing as a backing singer for Wham! on Top of the Pops. The pair tied the knot in St Lucia in 1988 and a year later welcomed their daughter Harley Moon, 35, into the world. Then in 1993, Roman was born. Back in March, The One Show host Roman was left bewildered as Martin made a hilarious admission about his marriage. During an episode of Roman's podcast FFS! My Dad Is Martin Kemp, Martin casually mentioned Shirlie has given him some stern 'tongue lashings' throughout their 37-year marriage. Fearing the term might be an unusual innuendo, Roman blurted out an expletive in astonishment, demanding clarification from his famous father. Despite the peculiar choice of words, the moment sparked a fit of laughter between them. Martin began: 'Shirlie gives me some good tongue know exactly what I mean when I say tongue lashings... 'She's good at it, she's good at the old tongue lashing, she will know when and how to put me down. Reacting to his dad's initial remark, Roman exclaimed: 'What the actual f*** does that mean? That is horrendous, that's the worst thing you've ever said. I can see the headline now, that is horrendous.' As they both tried to stifle their laughter, Martin expressed his affection, saying: 'I love coming in here and talking to you. 'When I'm out and about even with my mates. I never laugh as much as when I'm sitting here with you, talking to you.' This Morning airs weekdays on ITV1 from 10am and is available to stream on ITVX.

Roman Kemp details AWKWARD encounter with Justin Bieber after the singer asked him to critique his 2020 album Changes

Roman Kemp has recalled an excruciating encounter with Justin Bieber during a private listening session for his 2020 album, Changes. What began as a seemingly friendly invitation soon took an awkward turn when Justin, 31, demanded Roman, 32, join him on stage to offer live feedback in front of a roomful of music industry executives. 'He singled me out,' Roman said. 'He said I've got to come up on stage. He plays these tunes to all these label execs, looks at me and goes, "What do you think of that one?"' The former Capital Breakfast host, 32, said he gave his honest opinion: 'It's alright.' Justin, however, did not appear to appreciate the critique. '"Roman said it's alright? Alright?"', he reportedly shot back. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the Daily Mail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Speaking on the latest episode of his BBC Sounds podcast You About?, co-hosted with singer Tom Grennan, Roman continued: 'At that point, I was like, I've got to double down. So I said, "Well, yeah. It's not your best, not your worst." And that was it... My words were, "It's decent" - but I don't think he appreciated it.' Tom asked: 'You used to be pretty tight with Bieber, didn't you?' To which Roman - son of actor Martin Kemp and singer Shirlie Holliman - responded simply: 'Yeah...' While Roman still follows Justin on Instagram, Justin doesn't follow him back. The pair met around the time of the release of Justin's 2015 album, Purpose, with the superstar inviting Roman for drinks a short time later. Roman recalls going out to party with Justin during his younger days, telling The Sun Justin was the 'wildest'. He said in 2021: ''Without a doubt, he [Justin] was the wildest. He's grown into a very different young man now. He's a lot more serious and focused.' Roman and Justin had struck up a friendship after the radio presenter interviewed the superstar in 2015 Bieber gave fans hope that there may be new music around the corner as he shared snaps of him back in the studio on Instagram Roman added: 'I think I was 24, he'd just turned 21 and I remember standing on a sofa in a nightclub looking up and every girl in that room was trying to get my eye to say, "You can come on to this table". It's [a] different world. 'I've seen the scandal he caused but he was a young guy and I was there for him. He's a lovely guy, he writes great music and it was a really fun time.' After the release of Changes, Justin went on to drop the follow-up record Justice the following year. The album garnered much commercial success thanks to the popularity of singles such as Peaches featuring Giveon and Daniel Caesar. The song has racked up more than a billion streams on Spotify alone. Fans have been starved of music from Justin in recent years however, with Justice being the 31-year-old's latest body of work. He gave fans hope recently nevertheless, sharing snaps of him back in the studio to Instagram.
