Krishnasmruthi, a collection of essays written in memory of the late Hiriyur Krishnamurthy, who worked for Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangha (RSS) for many years, was released in a programme in Shivamogga on Saturday.
Many leaders of the BJP and RSS took part in the book launch event.
Krishnamurthy, who died in 2004, was a native of Hiriyur. He moved to Shivamogga in 1969 to work as a lecturer in a college there. He had since played an active role in strengthening the RSS in Shivamogga. His well-wishers formed a committee to bring out a collection of articles in his memory.
The collection includes essays written by 70 people, including former Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa, former Minister K.S. Eshwarappa, former chairman of the Legislative Council D.H. Shankaramurthy, RSS leaders Su. Ramanna, Pattabhirama, former MLC P.V. Krishna Bhat, among others.
RSS general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale released the book. Mr. Yediyurappa, Mr. Eshwarappa, Mr. Shankaramurthy, Mr. Ramanna, and others recalled Krishnamurthy's contributions to strengthening the RSS in Shivamogga.
Mr. Yediyurappa said Krishnamurthy played a major role in shaping his political career. Similarly, Mr. Eshwarappa recalled the days of his first election in 1989 and stated that he would not have entered electoral politics without the support of Krishnamurthy.
