Tiwari laments decline of ideals in state politics
Buxar: Senior
RJD
functionary Shivanand Tiwari has expressed deep disappointment at the current state of politics in Bihar, contrasting it sharply with the ideals of earlier decades.
"Politics has changed so much," he said on Thursday. "There is a vast difference between the politics of our time and today's, especially the kind practiced in the name of the poor."
He recalled slogans like "As long as man is hungry, there will be storms on earth" and "The earner will come, the looter will go" as carrying genuine conviction. "Now, marches are mere formalities. Earlier, we walked with purpose, from Gandhi Maidan to the Vidhan Sabha," he added.
Lamenting rising political expenses, he said, "A leader without a convoy of 50 vehicles is not taken seriously. Even a stage can cost crores."
Tiwari criticised modern leaders who claim to represent change. "Their politics is no different from the mainstream. The old dreams have vanished," he said.
Tiwari added, "Today, hunger is accepted as fate, looters flourish and English, a colonial relic, rules. The future does not look hopeful."
