Hollywood legend Mel Brooks has taken to social media to officially announce that "Space Balls 2" is in the works and will be releasing theatrically. I told you we'd be back — Mel Brooks (@MelBrooks) June 12, 2025 In addition to its humorous title crawl, the most stand out moment came when Dark Helmet appeared on the screen, seemingly indicating that Rick Moranis is ending his nearly 20 year film hiatus to be in the film. Now, we have confirmation. Rick Moranis during 1994 ShoWest in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States. Rick Moranis during 1994 ShoWest in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States. Jeff Kravitz/FilmMagic, Inc./Getty Images According to a report from Matt Grobar of Deadline, Moranis is returning as the Schwartz master. Chris Hemsworth, Alison Lohman, And 71 Other Actors Who Were Once Named Hollywood's Next Big Star

Hello, movie fans! On April 3, 2025, movie theater owners threw their annual convention — formerly called ShoWest, now CinemaCon — where they gave out a bunch of awards to filmmakers and movie stars. Some of the 2025 award winners included: — Mark Hamill, who received CinemaCon's Icon Award. — Glen Powell, who received Star of the Year. — Lindsay Lohan, who received the CinemaCon Vanguard Award. — and Cheech & Chong, who were given the Career Achievement in Comedy award. One prize they've awarded since 1978 is the "Star of Tomorrow." Below are all the actors who have ever won it, some of whom went on to become actual movie stars and others who'll make you go, "Who?!" Note: Some years, they skipped the award, while others, they only gave it to one person instead of a "male" and "female" star. Also, sometimes they awarded a similarly titled award instead, like Rising Star. If so, I've included those. Note 2: The photos featured here are of the actors at the convention until you reach 1989. Before 1989 the convention didn't release photos, so I just used contemporary photos of the actors. OK! Let's go! 1. 2025's Star of Tomorrow — Ben Wang 2. 2025's Rising Star — Madeleine McGraw MICHAEL TRAN / AFP via Getty Images Why she probably won it: The 16-year-old is becoming a scream queen with her performances in TV's Outcast plus The Black Phone and the upcoming The Black Phone 2. Did she become a movie star?: Time will tell! 3. 2024's Rising Star of the Year — Ariana Greenblatt Mindy Small / FilmMagic Why she probably won it: She played America Ferrera's daughter in the smash hit Barbie. Did she become a movie star?: It's looking good with roles in the eagerly-awaited films Fear Street: Prom Queen and Now You See Me: Now You Don't. 4. 2023's Rising Stars of the Year — Dominique Fishback and Anthony Ramos Ethan Miller / Getty Images Why they probably won it: They were the leads in 2023's Transformers: Rise of the Beasts. Did they become movie stars?: They're just about there (if not already). Ramos starred in Twisters and has more roles lined up, while Fishback starred in the TV series Swarm, earning rave reviews and an Emmy nomination. 6. 2022's Star of Tomorrow — Glen Powell Gabe Ginsberg / WireImage Why he probably won it: His breakout role in 2022's Top Gun: Maverick. Did he become a movie star?: Since the Anyone but You star was named their Star of the Year in 2025, I'd say he did! (There were no awards in 2020 and 2021 due to COVID-19.) 7. 2019's Female Stars of Tomorrow — Kaitlyn Dever and Beanie Feldstein Alberto E. Rodriguez / Getty Images for CinemaCon Why they probably won it: Their film Booksmart. Did they become movie stars?: Too soon to tell, but I'd say it's a fair bet they will. Dever's co-starred with Julia Roberts and George Clooney in the hit Ticket to Paradise and will have a key role in the upcoming second season of The Last of Us; Feldstein, meanwhile, has a starring role in Richard Linklater's next film Merrily We Roll Along. 8. 2018's Star of Tomorrow — Tiffany Haddish Michael Tran / FilmMagic Why she probably won it: Night School with Kevin Hart (following the massive success of Girls Trip). Did she become a star?: She did! After focusing on her TV series The Last O.G., she starred in the big-budget adaptation of the Disney ride Haunted Mansion and the hit Bad Boys: Ride or Die, and is rumored to soon star again in another Girls Trip movie. 9. 2017's Male Star of Tomorrow — Ansel Elgort Ethan Miller / Via Getty Why he probably won it: Baby Driver. Did he become a movie star?: No. He co-starred in Steven Spielberg's West Side Story, but was cast before assault allegations were levied against him and hasn't acted in a movie since. He did star in the the crime series Tokyo Vice from 2022 to 2024, so time will tell when (or if) we see him again on the big screen. 10. 2017's Female Star of Tomorrow — Sofia Boutella Alberto E. Rodriguez / Via Getty Why she probably won it: Atomic Blonde with Charlize Theron. Did she become a movie star?: Considering she's since played the lead in both of Zack Snyder's Rebel Moon epics, I'd say yes. 11. 2016's Male Star of Tomorrow — Stephen Amell Alberto E. Rodriguez / Via Getty (He didn't attend the awards, so here's a shot of him from 2016.) Why he probably won it: For Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows (seriously). Did he become a movie star?: No, but he did become a TV star, starring in DC Comics' Arrow on the CW for eight years. 12. 2016's Female Star of Tomorrow — Gina Rodriguez Michael Tran / FilmMagic Why she probably won it: Deepwater Horizon with Mark Wahlberg and Kurt Russell. Did she become a movie star?: Not really. She has appeared in a number of lower-profile movies in the years since (the biggest of which was Spy Kids: Armageddon), but she hasn't become an over-the-title name in movies. However, she is definitely a TV star thanks to her performances including a six-year run as the star of TV's Jane the Virgin. 13. 2015's Star of Tomorrow — Britt Robertson Ethan Miller / Via Getty Why she probably won it: Disney's Tomorrowland with George Clooney. Did she become a movie star?: Not She recently starred in the Netflix Christmas movie The Merry Gentlemen, though, and starred on TV's The Rookie: Feds too. 14. 2014's Male Star of Tomorrow — Chadwick Boseman Michael Tran / FilmMagic Why he probably won it: His role as Jackie Robinson in 42. Did he become a movie star?: Absolutely. He was iconic as T'Challa/Black Panther, earned an Oscar nomination for Ma Rainey's Black Bottom, and was stellar in Get On Up, Marshall, and 21 Bridges. 15. 2014's Female Star of Tomorrow — Shailene Woodley Alberto E. Rodriguez / Via Getty Why she probably won it: The Fault in Our Stars and Divergent. Did she become a movie star?: Yeah, I'd say so generally. She starred in the Divergent trilogy, but hasn't appeared in too many other hit movies since then. Like others on the list, though, she is a bigger draw on TV, starring in both seasons of HBO's acclaimed Big Little Lies with Meryl Streep. 16. 2013's Male Star of Tomorrow — Armie Hammer Ryan Miller / Via Getty Why he probably won it: His role in the big budget film The Lone Ranger. Did he become a movie star?: He did, but then, uh, things happened. He might not be done yet, though. He just finished filming the western Frontier Crucible with William H. Macy and Thomas Jane. 17. 2013's Female Star of Tomorrow — Hailee Steinfeld Ryan Miller / Via Getty Why she probably won it: Her role in the big-budget film Ender's Game. Did she become a movie star?: She did! She starred in the worldwide hit Bumblebee, joined the Pitch Perfect franchise, headlined premium TV shows Dickinson and Marvel's Hawkeye, and is currently in theaters with Michael B. Jordan in Sinners. 18. 2012's Male Star of Tomorrow — Taylor Kitsch Albert L. Ortega / WireImage Why he probably won it: John Carter and Battleship. Did he become a movie star?: Not in movies. Despite appearances in Lone Survivor and 21 Bridges, his feature résumé is a bit thin. He's a star in TV, though, starring in True Detective, Waco (as David Koresh), and The Terminal List. 19. 2012's Female Star of Tomorrow — Chloë Grace Moretz Ethan Miller / Getty Images Why she probably won it: Dark Shadows (but she'd already put together an impressive movie résumé as a child actor by this point). Did she become a movie star?: I'd say so. She's starred in a lot of movies and TV (like The Peripheral), and will co-star in this winter's star-studded Christmas comedy Oh. What. Fun. 20. 2011's Male Star of Tomorrow — Chris Hemsworth Ethan Miller / Getty Images Why he probably won it: Thor. Did he become a movie star?: Yeah, he's Thor. 21. 2011's Female Star of Tomorrow — Rosie Huntington-Whiteley Ethan Miller / Getty Images Why she probably won it: Her film debut Transformers: Dark of the Moon. Did she become a movie star?: Not in the movies. The Victoria's Secret model only appeared in one more film, 2015's Mad Max: Fury Road. 22. 2010's Male Star of Tomorrow — Alex Pettyfer Ryan Miller / Getty Images Why he probably won it: The modern day re-telling of Beauty and the Beast entitled Beastly. Did he become a movie star?: Not really. Despite early hits like I Am Number Four and Magic Mike — he's ended up mainly making low-budget and video-on-demand films. He did appear last year in the big budget film The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, so he may make it yet. 23. 2010's Female Star of Tomorrow — Vanessa Hudgens Steven Lawton / FilmMagic Why she probably won it: Beastly. As you'll see, the theater owners often like to give the male and female versions of the award to actors in the same movie. Did she become a movie star?: Yep. She's since made three very popular Princess Switch movies on Netflix, and co-starred in the high-profile films Bad Boys: Ride or Die, Second Act, and Tick, Tick... Boom! 24. 2009's Female Stars of Tomorrow — Briana Evigan, Leah Pipes, Rumer Willis, Jamie Chung, Audrina Patridge, and Margo Harshman Denise Truscello / WireImage Why they probably won it: Their film Sorority Row. Naming the whole cast "Stars of Tomorrow" is a bit of a stunt — often, these awards are heavily influenced by what movies the theater owners hope will do well for them. Did they become movie stars?: Not a one. 25. 2009's Male Star of Tomorrow — Chris Pine Ethan Miller / Getty Images Why he probably won it: His first performance as Captain Kirk in Star Trek. Did he become a movie star?: He did. Star Trek, Wonder Woman, Jack Ryan... 26. 2008's Male Star of Tomorrow — Emile Hirsch Ethan Miller / Getty Images Why he probably won it: His award-winning performance in Into the Wild. Did he become a movie star?: No. Except for a role in the 2013 hit Lone Survivor, and a cameo in Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood, his career has been pretty quiet. 27. 2008's Female Star of Tomorrow — Abigail Breslin Ryan Miller / Getty Images Why she probably won it: For Kit Kittredge: An American Girl, following her Academy Award-nominated performance in Little Miss Sunshine. Did she become a movie star?: Yes, she transitioned into older roles, starring in the two hit Zombieland films, flexed her dramatic chops in Stillwater with Matt Damon, and has more projects lined up. 28. 2007's Male Star of Tomorrow — Shia LaBeouf Jesse Grant / WireImage Why he probably won it: Disturbia and Transformers. Did he become a movie star?: He a period. Cripes, Spielberg cast him as Indiana Jones's son! Plus, he top-lined Eagle Eye, Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, and two Transformers sequels, all hits. But his erratic behavior has really sapped his star power. He may have a comeback in him, though. He appeared in last year's Francis Ford Coppola film Megalopolis, and has others lined up. 29. 2007's Female Star of Tomorrow — Emma Roberts Chris Farina / Corbis via Getty Images Why she probably won it: She'd just headlined Nancy Drew. Did she become a movie star?: Yes. Julia's niece has been most successful on TV with the American Horror Story franchise, but she starred in some hit movies (Hotel for Dogs, We're the Millers, Scream 4), and last year appeared in Marvel misfire Madame Web. 30. 2006's Female Star of Tomorrow — Jennifer Hudson John Sciulli / WireImage Why she probably won it: Dreamgirls. Definitely, Dreamgirls. Did she become a movie star?: She's definitely a big star if you consider her whole career (I has the EGOT!), but less so in the context of movies alone. Still, Respect was quite the star turn. 31. 2006's Male Star of Tomorrow — Brandon Routh John Sciulli / WireImage Why he probably won it: 100% Superman Returns. Did he become a movie star?: Nope. He's done a lot of TV, though, especially on D.C. Comics' shows. 32. 2005's Male Star of Tomorrow — Hayden Christensen Jon Kopaloff / FilmMagic Why he probably won it: Why do you think, LOL? (It was Star Wars.) Did he become a movie star?: I'd have to say "no." He did star in three modest hits (Awake, Jumper, and Takers) in the immediate years after finishing the Star Wars trilogy, but they were poorly soon, he was lost in direct-to-video land. Things are looking up, though — he just starred in Disney+'s Obi-Wan Kenobi and will next appear in Ahsoka (both as Anakin Skywalker). 33. 2005's Female Star of Tomorrow — Jessica Biel Bryan Haraway / Getty Images Why she probably won it: Elizabethtown and Stealth came out that were before that, she was in the hit reboot of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Did she become a movie star?: I think we can say she did, as she appeared in a lot of high-profile movies in a supporting capacity (Total Recall, The A-Team, The Illusionist), but she never really became a lead movie actor and hasn't appeared in a movie release since 2017 (she will appear in the upcoming big-budget movie Matchbox — based on the toy cars — with John Cena). She's been the lead on TV, though, where she's a bigger star. 34. 2004's Male Star of Tomorrow — Ryan Gosling Jean-paul Aussenard / WireImage Why he probably won it: The Notebook had just come out. Did he become a movie star?: ✅ 35. 2004's Female Star of Tomorrow — Jennifer Garner Jean-paul Aussenard / WireImage Why she probably won it: The classic 13 Going on 30, which succeeded with her name solely over the title. Did she become a movie star?: I'd say so. She may not have become a huge movie star (her next two star vehicles, Elektra and Catch and Release, fizzled), but she's definitely had a nice movie career. She co-starred in acclaimed art house releases like Juno and Dallas Buyers Club, plus hit family films (Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day) and rom-coms (Ghosts of Girlfriends Past). 36. 2003's Male Star of Tomorrow — LL Cool J Michael Caulfield Archive / WireImage Why he probably won it: The rap legend had been acting in movies for a decade at this point, so he was kind of a weird choice for this award. But he was coming off his biggest hit yet S.W.A.T. Did he become a movie star?: No, but he's been starring on the long-running TV show NCIS: Los Angeles since 2009 (with 1994's Star of Tomorrow Chris O'Donnell). 37. 2003's Female Star of Tomorrow — Alison Lohman Michael Caulfield Archive / WireImage Why she probably won it: Her 2003 roles in Matchstick Men and Tim Burton's Big Fish. Did she become a movie star?: Since you're probably saying, "Alison Who?" you already know the answer to this. Post 2003, Lohman starred in a number of underperforming films before retiring from movies in 2009. She went out on top, though — her last film, Sam Raimi's Drag Me to Hell, was an acclaimed hit. 38. 2002's Male Star of Tomorrow — Josh Hartnett Gregg Deguire / WireImage Why he probably won it: People saw him as the next big thing after Michael Bay's Pearl Harbor. Did he become a movie star?: I had to think on this one because based on the buzz around him back in the day you'd think he'd have become a massive star. But a bunch of underperforming star roles — and then a long absence from the screen — tanked that. He's making a comeback, though, that pushed him (all things considered, IMOP) into the movie star category. After appearing in Christopher Nolan's Best picture winner Oppenheimer, he headlined the hit Trap, and next will appear in Verity with Dakota Johnson and Anne Hathaway. 39. 2002's Female Star of Tomorrow — Naomi Watts J. Vespa / WireImage Why she probably won it: Her star turn in David Lynch's Mulholland Drive. Did she become a movie star?: Yes, she starred in hits — The Ring series, The Impossible, and King Kong — and earned an Academy Award nomination for 21 Grams. 40. 2001's Star of Tomorrow — Heath Ledger Kevin Winter / Getty Images Why he probably won it: He was hot thanks to 10 Things I Hate About You and The Patriot. Did he become a movie star?: Yes, Brothers Grimm and the landmark Brokeback Mountain cemented his status as a big star in his lifetime. After his death, his Academy Award-winning performance as the Joker in The Dark Knight became his signature role. 41. 2000's Star of Tomorrow — Hilary Swank Jeff Kravitz / FilmMagic, Inc Why she probably won it: Her Academy Award-winning performance in Boys Don't Cry. Did she become a movie star?: Yes. She won another Oscar for Million Dollar Baby and headlined the hit romantic drama P.S. I Love You, and while she couldn't maintain that heat as a movie star, she is now starring on TV shows like the hit Yellowjackets. 42. 1999's Male Star of Tomorrow — Giovanni Ribisi Ron Galella / Ron Galella Collection via Getty Images Why he probably won it: His role in Saving Private Ryan. And being Phoebe's brother didn't hurt either. Did he become a movie star?: No, but he definitely became a "movie character actor" star (if that's a thing, lol). He's had a long career as an in-demand supporting actor in notable films like Avatar, Ted, and Selma. 43. 1999's Female Star of Tomorrow — Heather Graham Jeff Kravitz / FilmMagic, Inc Why she probably won it: Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me. But she'd already been acting for over a decade in notable movies like Drugstore Cowboy, Swingers, and Boogie Nights, so she was no rank newbie! Did she become a movie star?: Yes, for the five years or so years after winning the award she starred in hit movies like Bowfinger, From Hell, and Committed. Things petered off after that, although she still did a lot of TV and was great in the smash comedy hit The Hangover. 44. 1998's Male Star of Tomorrow — Matt Damon Jim Smeal / Ron Galella Collection via Getty Images Why he probably won it: It was definitely Good Will Hunting! Did he become a movie star?: He did! 45. 1998's Female Star of Tomorrow — Minnie Driver Ron Galella / Ron Galella Collection via Getty Images Why she probably won it: 1997 saw her star in Grosse Pointe Blank and the acclaimed Good Will Hunting opposite Matt Damon. Did she become a movie star?: Hmmm. I think I have to say "no." She headlined a number of features after this, but none became big hits. She's grown into a steady supporting player in films, though, and earned an Emmy nomination for her impressive performance in The Riches. So she is definitely a star of movies AND TV, just maybe not a movie star on its own. 46. 1997's Male Star of Tomorrow — Howie Long Jeff Kravitz / FilmMagic, Inc Why he probably won it: The former pro football star had made his film debut in John Woo's Broken Arrow. Did he become a movie star?: No. He only made a few more before focusing on broadcasting for the NFL. 47. 1997's Female Star of Tomorrow Award — Claire Danes Ron Galella / Ron Galella Collection via Getty Images Why she probably won it: Her breakout film role opposite Leonardo DiCaprio in Romeo + Juliet. Did she become a movie star?: She did, starring in a number of movies in the years after winning the award, but she is best known these days for her award-winning TV work on Homeland and Temple Grandin. Note: I couldn't find a photo of her at ShoWest, so the one above is from the 1997 Academy Awards. 48. 1996's Male Star of Tomorrow — Greg Kinnear Jeff Kravitz / FilmMagic, Inc Why he probably won it: The former talk show host had earned kudos for his on-screen charm in the box office disappointments Sabrina and Dear God. Did he become a movie star?: Yeah, I think we can say he did. He earned an Academy Award nomination for As Good As It Gets and continued to earn starring roles for the next couple in the indie sensation Little Miss Sunshine. 49. 1996's Female Star of Tomorrow — Cameron Diaz Ron Galella, Ltd. / Ron Galella Collection via Getty Images Why she probably won it: There was a lot of buzz around her thanks to 1994's hit comedy with Jim Carrey The Mask. Did she become a movie star?: Yes! And she recently returned to the movies after a long absence in Netflix's ironically titled Back in Action. Next up is Shrek 5 and Outcome with Keanu Reeves. 50. 1995's Male Stars of Tomorrow — Martin Lawrence and Will Smith Jeff Kravitz / FilmMagic, Inc Why they probably won it: Michael Bay's Bad Boys, which put both of them on the map as movie — and not just TV — stars. Did they become movie stars?: in 2024, they did another Bad Boys movie, Ride or Die. 51. 1995's Female Star of Tomorrow — Julia Ormond Ron Galella / Ron Galella Collection via Getty Images Why she probably won it: Her breakout role as the female lead in Legends of the Fall opposite Brad Pitt and Anthony Hopkins. Did she become a movie star?: She sure got a chance, starring in a number of high profile movies like the remake of Sabrina with Harrison Ford, but it didn't last. She's kept working, though, notably in Mad Men and Temple Grandin (for which she won an Emmy). 52. 1994's Male Star of Tomorrow — Chris O'Donnell Jeff Kravitz / FilmMagic, Inc Why he probably won it: He was red hot thanks to Scent of a Woman ("Hooah!") and The Three Musketeers. Did he become a movie star?: For a time, yes — he played Robin in a couple '90s Batman films and top-lined hits like The Bachelor and Vertical Limit. Today, he's most known for TV's NCIS: Los Angeles. 53. 1994's Female Star of Tomorrow — Tia Carrere Jeff Kravitz / FilmMagic, Inc Why she probably won it: She was riding high after starring in Wayne's World 1 & 2, Rising Sun, and True Lies. Did she become a movie star?: Unfortunately, 1994 was where her movie career reached its apex. After that, she did lots of direct-to-video movies and TV (she reoccured on Curb Your Enthusiasm). She's making a well deserved comeback though, starring in the upcoming live-action movie Lilo & Stitch and The Last Resort with Daisy Ridley. 54. 1993's Male Star of Tomorrow — Brad Pitt Jeff Kravitz / FilmMagic, Inc Why he probably won it: His role in Kalifornia — but his buzz from Thelma & Louise and A River Runs Through It likely helped. Did she become a movie star?: He did! 55. 1993's Female Star of Tomorrow — Juliette Lewis Jeff Kravitz / FilmMagic, Inc Why she probably won it: Her role in Kalifornia with Brad Pitt, although she was already a little too established for this award by 1993, having earned an Academy Award nomination for Cape Fear and starring in Husbands and Wives. Did she become a big star?: Yes, even though she never became an above-the-title star, she's consistently put in strong supporting performances in movies like Old School and August: Osage County (and now, she's in the hit TV show Yellowjackets). Juliette and Brad were a couple at the time (I think ShoWest liked giving this award to couples for whatever reason — as you'll see soon). Jeff Kravitz / FilmMagic, Inc 56. 1992's Male Star of Tomorrow — Stephen Dorff Ron Galella / Ron Galella Collection via Getty Images Why he probably won it: The South African-set boxing drama The Power of One that was supposed to be a big movie (but ended up bombing big time). Did he become a movie star?: Not totally, but he's had a weird career. Over the last 30 years, he's kept occasionally popping up with key roles in big movies (like Blade and World Trade Center), and starred in the prestige HBO drama series True Detective. 57. 1992's Female Star of Tomorrow — Nicole Kidman Jeff Kravitz / FilmMagic, Inc Why she probably won it: The historical epic Far and Away with then hubby Tom Cruise. Did she become a movie star?: One of the biggest! 58. 1991's Star of Tomorrow — Richard Grieco Ron Galella, Ltd. / Ron Galella Collection via Getty Images Why he probably won it: The 21 Jump Street/Booker star had just made his film debuts with If Looks Could Kill and Mobsters. Did he become a movie star?: Oh man, how can I put this nicely? He did not. He is, however, a very accomplished painter now. 59. 1991's Female Star of Tomorrow Award — Robin Givens Ron Galella, Ltd. / Ron Galella Collection via Getty Images Why she probably won it: After starring in TV's Head of the Class — and appearing in the tabloids thanks to her marriage to Mike Tyson — she was making her film debut in A Rage in Harlem with Danny Glover. Did she become a movie star?: She did not. Although she continued to act on TV throughout the years, appearing on Chuck and Riverdale. 60. 1990's Male Star of Tomorrow — Johnny Depp Michael Ochs Archives / Getty Images Why he probably won it: Also because of Edward Scissorhands, which was his breakout movie role after TV fame with 21 Jump Street. Did he become a movie star?: Yup. Jack Sparrow. Ed Wood, etc. 61. 1990's Female Star of Tomorrow — Winona Ryder Michael Ochs Archives / Getty Images Why she probably won it: Because of her role in Edward Scissorhands... but she was kind of already a star at this point thanks to Beetlejuice and Heathers. Did she become a movie star?: Of course! She's Winona freaking Ryder! Like Brad and Juliette above, Winona and Johnny were dating at the time (here's a color photo of them from the event since the photographer of the above two photos decided to shoot them in black and white like it was 1934, LOL). Jim Smeal / Ron Galella Collection via Getty Images 62. 1989's Stars of Tomorrow — Carey Lowell and Talisa Soto Sunset Boulevard / Corbis via Getty Images Why they probably won it: They were the Bond girls in the 1989 James Bond movie Licence to Kill. Did they become movie stars?: No, though Lowell had a good run on TV's Law & Order (and was Tom Hanks's wife who died in Sleepless in Seattle). Soto starred in a couple Mortal Kombat movies. 63. 1985's Male Star of Tomorrow — Eric Stoltz Ron Galella / Ron Galella Collection via Getty Images Why he probably won it: It definitely wasn't because of that summer's Back to the Future (which had fired him as Marty McFly after weeks of filming). It was because of Mask co-starring Cher, which earned him a Golden Globe nomination as Best Supporting Actor. Did he become a movie star?: of? But more of an indie star in movies like Mr. Jealousy (and notably Pulp Fiction). 64. 1983's Female Star of Tomorrow — Shelley Long Ron Galella / Ron Galella Collection via Getty Images Why she probably won it: It likely has less to do with Cheers (which was just one season in and scoring poor ratings), and more to do with her role in the hit Michael Keaton comedy Night Shift. Did she become a movie star?: She did star in The Money Pit, Troop Beverly Hills, and The Brady Bunch Movie, so sorta, but she's a TV legend thanks to Cheers (and later her reoccurring role on Modern Family). 65. 1983's Male Star of Tomorrow — David Keith Michael Ochs Archives / Getty Images Why he probably won it: He'd just co-starred in the classic An Officer and a Gentleman. Did he become a movie star?: No. But he's been a working actor ever since on TV (Hawaii Five-0) and in movies (like a lot of "B" movies). 66. 1985's Female Star of Tomorrow — Kelly LeBrock Ron Galella, Ltd. / Ron Galella Collection via Getty Images Why she probably won it: She was a model who'd just starred in The Woman in Red (as the lady in red), and was soon to appear in John Hughes's Weird Science. Did she become a moive star?: Nope. Not sure what went wrong, as she was gorgeous and very popular back in the day — but she only acted in a couple more major releases, including Hard to Kill starring her then-husband Steven Seagal (maybe being married to him was a full-time job). 67. 1982's Newcomer of the Year — Lori Singer Walter McBride / Corbis via Getty Images Why she probably won it: She was one of the breakout stars of the TV hit Fame, and was just cast in a soon-to-be-shot movie called Footloose. Did she become a movie star?: For three or four years after Footloose she was cast in a number of lead roles (including in The Man with One Red Shoe), but didn't really appear in too much after that (although she was phenomenal in 1993's Robert Altman film Short Cuts. But honestly, I don't think that's enough to call her a movie star. 68. 1978's Star of Tomorrow — Mark Hamill Tom Wargacki / WireImage Why he probably won it: He'd starred in a little film called Star Wars the year before, so he was on people's radars. Did he become a movie star?: He never really became a big movie star outside of the Star Wars universe, but he's a pop culture icon, and his voice work as the Joker was especially notable. Oh, and he's having a hell of a run at the moment — he will soon appear in Francis Lawrence's adaptation of Stephen King's The Long Walk, and The Life of Chuck, another King adaptation. He'll also play the Flying Dutchman in Paramount's The SpongeBob Movie: Search for Squarepants. You know what? I'm going to say "yes."

In his new book, 'Who Better Than You? The Art of Healthy Arrogance & Dreaming Big,' Hollywood super-producer Will Packer has a Will Smith story to tell. It's just probably not the one you were expecting. Packer, of course, famously co-produced the 94th Academy Awards, when Smith slapped comedian Chris Rock live onstage before returning to his front-row seat. The chaos that inevitably ensued backstage is not the stuff of Packer's Smith story. Instead, in 'Who Better Than You?' — part memoir and part manifesto about how to make it as a Hollywood outsider — Packer talks about how, in 1999, he sneaked into the ShoWest movie theater convention using a buddy's press pass.
