Sabrina Carpenter Releases Summer-Ready Single ‘Manchild'

Sabrina Carpenter Amid a whirlwind year involving top-10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, two Grammy Awards, and an ongoing world tour, Sabrina Carpenter isn't taking a break from releasing new music. The 'Espresso' hitmaker has once again teamed up with star producer Jack Antonoff for a new single, 'Manchild,' out now. On the lighthearted track, Carpenter shares her annoyance with an immature partner without letting it drag her down emotionally or musically. 'Manchild, why you always come a-runnin' to me? / F**k my life, won't you let an innocent woman be? / Never heard of self-care / Half your brain just ain't there / Manchild, why you always come a-runnin', takin' all my lovin' from me?' she sings. Carpenter continues to ride the high of her breakout album Short n' Sweet. Though it marked the former Disney Channel star's sixth studio album, she told Vogue in a March cover story that she considers her 2022 album Emails I Can't Send, her first with Island Records, as her 'first big-girl album.' On last year's follow-up, Carpenter stepped into her own, unafraid of appearing crass or saying the wrong thing in public. Now, the artist that people see is the same person behind the scenes. 'Short n' Sweet is absolutely me,' she said. 'There's no, like, alter ego. But it's definitely a more emphasized version of me. It's interesting because I'm able to dress in this way where you would kind of expect to hear like a voice from the '60s. But then, when I'm speaking to the audience, I'm just myself.' The change came naturally to her in the album creation process as she knew she had to keep true to herself while recording. 'I had a lot of ideas musically, and for the one thing that pulls it all together to be my point of view," she said. "That was the one thing that I knew.' The Short n' Sweet Tour wraps up Nov. 23 in Los Angeles.

In the vintage-inspired clip, the singer can be seen attempting to hitchhike on the side of a dirt road, dressed in a white blouse, denim shorts and silver heels. Failing to catch a ride, the 26-year-old can be heard saying 'oh boy' at the end of the otherwise silent video. One enthusiastic fan asked: 'NEW MUSIC!????????', whilst a second added: 'She's coming for the SONG OF THE SUMMER again. What a QUEEN.' Last year, Carpenter released her Short n' Sweet album which featured the multi award-winning single Espresso.

Sabrina Carpenter flashes her butt in TINY Daisy Duke shorts as she hints at new music in teaser clip

Sabrina Carpenter turned up the heat on Monday, just in time for the summer. The pop star, 26, shared a vintage-inspired teaser video to Instagram, where she flashed her pert derrière in a pair of tiny Daisy Duke shorts. The clip shows the blonde bombshell — who's being considered for a role in a major film franchise — hitchhiking on the side of a dirt road, wearing heels, her micro shorts and a cropped pink button-up top. Her voluminous blond curls bounced as Sabrina tried to flag down car after car, but no one pulled over. The video has no sound, aside from the beauty lightly chuckling and uttering 'Oh boy' at the end. Fans believe the teaser is either for new music or an upcoming music video. Next to Sabrina — who has shocked fans with her explicit concert moves in the past — was a brown suitcase. 'She's securing song of the summer,' one excited fan wrote. 'Song of the summer incoming,' another added. 'New music!?????????' another questioned. 'New music please please please.' Others predicted it was a video for one of her songs. 'it has to be a busy woman mv bc of the suitcase,' one wrote. 'HAS to be a busy woman MV!' 'Bed Chem FT. Nicki??????' another asked. Carpenter's last studio album, Short n' Sweet, was released in August 2024. Carpenter is next scheduled to headline the Spanish music festival Primavera Sound, which is held at Parc del Fòrum in Barcelona on June 6. The Nonsense Christmas star will then resume her $33.2M-grossing, 72-date Short n' Sweet Tour on July 5-6 at Hyde Park in London. Sabrina has been a singer for the last decade, but her career got a major boost in 2023 while serving opening duties for Taylor Swift. Carpenter - who gets 65.1M monthly listeners on Spotify - originally taught herself how to play piano and guitar with YouTube tutorials. The star is keeping busy, amid reports she's being eyed up for huge role in Mamma Mia 3. It's no secret that the singer is a big ABBA fan, having previously performed their songs on her Short n' Sweet tour, as well as the band being one of her top artists on Spotify. Now, Sabrina could star in the sequel, 17 years after the original film was released, which featured Hollywood actors including Meryl Streep and Pierce Brosnan. Producer Judy Craymer, who has finished a script for a third movie, said: 'She'd be a goddess or some relation who would look very much like Meryl Streep.' Speaking about the project, Judy told Hollywood news site Deadline: 'Well, we know what we want to do with the movie, and it will happen. 'And I mean, we brought together this amazing group of movie stars that were all connected through it, and huge friendships evolved.' Amanda Seyfried, 39, who plays Sophie in the films, previously said she could see Sabrina playing her daughter. She said: 'Old age make-up for me. If Sabrina Carpenter wants to play my daughter, I'll make it happen. It's fine. I'm a big fan.' The two-time Grammy winner is throwing herself into work after ending her year-long romance with Oscar-nominated actor Barry Keoghan last December. 'They are both young and career-focused, so they've decided to take a break,' an insider told People at the time. Sabrina and the 32-year-old Irishman - who starred in her Please Please Please music video last June - awkwardly attended the Met Gala separately on May 4.

SABRINA Carpenter has shown ex Barry Keoghan what he's missing as she goes pantless on the 2025 Met Gala red carpet. After the couple made their red carpet debut together on fashion's biggest night in 2024, the Espresso singer opted to attend this year's event solo in a daring look while her ex is forced to look on. The Short n Sweet songstress stunned in a custom Louis Vuitton brown corset bodysuit that cinched her waist. The top was accompanied with a double-breasted blazer, which was accessorized with a long train and a popped white collar. The look, which music and fashion icon Pharrell Williams helped design for the Haus of Louis Vuitton, was inspired by the "jazz age" when creating the look. Barry's luxurious look included a jewel-encrusted collar, a long black shirt that had large gold buttons going down the middle and a red band tied around his waist. The end of the top's sleeves were embellished with a floral crystal pattern and he completed his outfit with classic black leather loafers. They went on to become the 'it couple' of 2024 however, their romance didn't last long and they broke up later that year following allegations of infidelity. At the time of their split, a source told People: "They are both young and career-focused, so they've decided to take a break." However, back in August, The Sun on Sunday confirmed Barry had been dumped by Sabrina for the first time after she grew tired of his party lifestyle. Advertisement Superfine: Tailoring Black Style — 2025 Met Gala's theme explained This year's Met Gala theme Superfine: Tailoring Black Style was announced on October 9, 2024, but what does it mean? It is inspired by a new exhibit at the Costume Institute that focuses on Black style, notably Black dandyism from the 18th century through to its resurgence in the 1920s and 30s in the Harlem Renaissance and its influence on present day. Dandyism speaks to elegant and often excessive fashion used for self-expression that often breaks norms and can be seen as a form of rebellion. Attendees have been told that the dress code is "Tailored for you" and that the theme explores how fashion has been used to both enslave and liberate. It is inspired by the book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism And The Styling Of Black Diasporic Identity (2009), written by professor and chair of Africana studies at Barnard College, Monica L Miller. This exhibition marks a significant step in diversifying the Met's collections and addressing historical biases in curatorial practices. Andrew Bolton, the Curator in Charge, emphasized the importance of making fashion at The Met more accessible and inclusive. A source said at the time: 'Barry acts like an idiot when he is drunk and Sabrina was getting increasingly frustrated. 'He has always been a party animal and Sabrina was fed up with his antics. She is soaring in the charts and is putting herself first as she gears up for her tour next month.' Sabrina released the single Please Please Please in June, which sees her sing about a boyfriend damaging her reputation. 8 Barry Keoghan and Sabrina Carpenter attend The 2024 Met Gala together Credit: Getty Advertisement
