Students bring sign language to life with video project
JERTIH: Final-year students at Besut Community College have produced a series of animated videos designed to help special needs pupils learn sign language more effectively.
Eighteen students from the college's 3D animation diploma programme created four educational videos for SK Pendidikan Khas Besut, aimed at making sign language more accessible through engaging, digital cartoons.
College director Nik Mohd Kamil Ibrahim @ Nik Hanafi said the animations were an interactive and captivating way for pupils to learn formal sign language.
'The project also gives our students the chance to create high-quality animations with real-world impact,' he said in his address at the Showcase Cipta 8.0 event at the college, Bernama reported.
The event was officiated by Warnakala Studios Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Hairulfaizalizwan Ahmad Sofian, who is also a member of the Besut Community College Industry Advisory Committee.
The studio is known for its hit titles, such as Didi & Friends The Movie. Nik Mohd Kamil stated that the animation project, now in its eighth year, forms part of an annual programme conducted by the college's 3D animation unit, providing a platform for students to showcase their skills in digital animation, 3D design, and interactive technology.
'This is more than a final-year assignment.
'It's a reflection of compassion, creativity and social responsibility, shaped under the guidance of dedicated lecturers,' he said.
