When he arrives in New York City , he discovers he's part of something much bigger, an Avengers-style gathering of serial killers , just like chilling new angle was teased in the recently released trailer for Dexter: Resurrection , which dropped at CCXP Mexico City. The footage offers fans their most detailed look yet at what showrunner Clyde Phillips and star Michael C. Hall have planned for the much-anticipated return of Dexter Morgan this Resurrection follows directly after Dexter: New Blood (2021), where Dexter survived a near-fatal gunshot wound inflicted by his son, Harrison (played by Jack Alcott, who also returns). Awakening from a coma, Dexter faces a new crisis: Harrison has vanished without a trace. Determined to find his son and make things right, Dexter relocates to New York City, hoping to disappear in the bustling urban landscape and leave his violent past Dexter's past isn't so easily escaped. In the trailer, viewers see a tense reunion with Angel Batista (David Zayas), Dexter's former Miami Metro colleague, who suspects Dexter's true identity as the infamous Bay Harbor Butcher. This confrontation forces Dexter to flee to New York, setting the stage for a new in New York, Dexter encounters a secret society of serial killers, new characters portrayed by Uma Thurman, Peter Dinklage, Neil Patrick Harris, Krysten Ritter, Eric Stonestreet, and David Dastmalchian. 'Resurrection' is one of many offshoots of 'Dexter,' a hit serial killer drama that ran on Showtime for eight seasons, from 2006 to 2013. A sequel series, 'Dexter: New Blood,' aired in 2021, which also saw Hall reprise the role of Dexter.
