LHSAA State Wrestling Tournament Makes History in Bossier with Girls' Division

Story By: Visit Shreveport-Bossier Shreveport-Bossier, Louisiana – The Shreveport-Bossier Sports Commission with Visit Shreveport-Bossier, in partnership with the Brookshire Grocery Arena and the Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA), are proud to announce the 2025 State Wrestling Tournament, taking place on February 14-15, 2025. This year marks the first-ever LHSAA Girls' Division I Tournament. 'Shreveport-Bossier is proud to host the 2025 State Wrestling Tournament,' said Sara Nelms, Director of Sports for the Shreveport-Bossier Sports Commission with Visit Shreveport-Bossier. 'We are excited to welcome this event back for another year at the Brookshire Grocery Arena, and we are especially honored to host the inaugural girls' division.' The LHSAA oversees high school wrestling competitions across the state, culminating in the annual State Wrestling Tournament. There will be around 1200 student athletes participating and 250 coaches in Shreveport-Bossier for the State Wrestling Tournament. The addition of the Girls' Division I not only highlights the growing recognition of female athletes in the sport, but also increases visitor traffic, generating a significant economic impact for our community. Attendees will be exploring Shreveport-Bossier's local restaurants, retail stores, and entertainment attractions during their stay. 'The LHSAA is thrilled to be back in Shreveport-Bossier for another State Wrestling Tournament,' said Adam D. MacDowell, Assistant Executive Director of the LHSAA. ''This year is particularly special as we host the inaugural state girls' division, marking a historic moment for wrestling in Louisiana. We have an incredible group of student-athletes ready to compete at the highest level, and we encourage everyone to come out, show their support, and be part of the action.' SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – The Shreveport-Bossier Sports Commission announced that the Louisiana High School Athletics Association (LHSAA) will hold its 2025 state wrestling tournament at the Brookshire Grocery Arena this weekend and will include the first-ever girl's wrestling tournament. 'Shreveport-Bossier is proud to host the 2025 State Wrestling Tournament,' said Sara Nelms, Director of Sports for the Shreveport-Bossier Sports Commission with Visit Shreveport-Bossier. 'We are excited to welcome this event back for another year at the Brookshire Grocery Arena, and we are especially honored to host the inaugural girls' division.' Caddo schools track & field partners with HBCU Athletic Conference The tournament is on Friday, February 14, and Saturday, February 15, at the BGA and will showcase the skills of about 1,200 participating student-athletes and 250 coaches from across the state. The addition of the Girls' Division 1 tournament highlights the growth of female wrestlers. The weekend event is expected to provide an economic infusion for local hotels, restaurants, and other entertainment and service providers in the area.
