Shreveport firefighters save man from Stoner Ave blaze

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — Shreveport firefighters rescued a male victim from a quadplex fire on Stoner Avenue on Saturday morning. The Shreveport Fire Department stated they responded to a fire in the 600 block of Stoner Avenue shortly after 10:30 a.m. Saturday morning. They reported heavy smoke coming from the building, and firefighters said they discovered a male victim trapped inside one of the residences. 'Under the command of Captain C. Rushing, with Engineer A. Harrel and Firefighter J. Wilcher, the crew successfully rescued the victim through a window,' detailed SFD's news release. 'Firefighters then launched an aggressive interior attack, quickly locating the fire at the rear of the structure. Crews were able to contain and extinguish the blaze, bringing it under control by 10:55 a.m. and preventing further damage to the remaining residence.' SFD: Fire escape plan vital to survive a house fire A total of 27 firefighters and support personnel responded to the incident. EMS Officer noted the victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation and was reported to be in stable condition. One Shreveport firefighter sustained minor injuries during the rescue effort. The Shreveport Fire Department investigated and found that there was no working smoke alarm in the residence. The fire investigation division ruled the fire accidental in origin. SFD urges all residents to ensure their homes are equipped with working smoke alarms. Shreveport Fire invites public to tour fire stations and meet firefighters

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — The Shreveport Fire Department is inviting the public to learn more about the day-to-day life of a firefighter. To celebrate the start of 'Camp I'm Still Me,' a free summer camp for children ages 5-17 who have sustained burn injuries, SFD invites families out for a fun day. The department is inviting the public to tour fire stations, meet firefighters, learn fire safety, and promote Camp I'm Still Me. According to the press release, campers will participate in various activities such as games, crafts, swimming, and fishing. They will have adult burn survivors as counselors. The camp will offer 'emotional healing and the formation of lasting bonds.' The event will be held on Saturday, May 31, from 9:00 a.m. to noon at the following locations: Fire Station 1: 263 N. SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — Shreveport Fire Department were called to a house fire at 3:14 p.m. on the 600 Block of Hyde Park Place and Yancey Place with multiple first responders. Shreveport Fire Department, EMS Officer, Corrie Ross said they were called to a single-story residence and approximately after 3:15p.m. 18 Shreveport Fire Department units and 21 Shreveport Police Department units responded to extinguish the blaze. Massive house fire on Pollard Place in Shreveport At this time, SFD report there were no injuries to residents and first responders. "I felt that one," one man can be heard saying in witness video that captured the loud bang on Wednesday in Shreveport, Louisiana. The bus appears to have been parked outside a Fresenius Kidney Care location, according to a sign next to it. The Shreveport Fire Department said in a media release the fire involved a SporTran bus, which is the city's public transit system. Crews found the "bus actively burning, with a relief valve open and flames erupting from one of the vehicle's compressed natural gas (CNG) fuel tanks."
