Shreveport Mayor's Women's Commission celebrates Women's History Month
SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – The Shreveport Mayor's Women's Commission (SMWC) is hosting and will celebrate National Women's History Month with its kick-off breakfast. Mayor Tom Arceneaux reflected on a successful Mardi Gras season Their kick-off breakfast will be held on Monday, March 10, 2025, at 7 a.m. and continue their celebration with its annual Cora M. Allen Luncheon on Thursday, March 27th, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. Both events will be held at the Shreveport Convention Center. 'Moving Forward Together! Women Educating and Inspiring Generations' is this year's theme for the 44th anniversary National Women's History Celebration. Breakfast Speaker: Vita Riner Luncheon Speaker: Caddo Parish Commissioner Stormy G. Watts Cora M. Allen Essay Contest Winners will be Recognized Mayor Tom Arceneaux and the Shreveport Mayor's Women's Commission will host these events to recognize local women for their untiring and selfless volunteer efforts to be Helpful, Effective, and Responsible Advocates (HERA) for Shreveport women and youth. The Shreveport Mayor's Women's Commission is dedicated to: Promoting and furthering the economic status, health, safety, education, leadership, and advocacy opportunities for the advancement of the women and youth in the City of Shreveport. Enhancing the quality of life for all area residents, particularly women and families. Seeking partnerships with government agencies, nonprofit groups, private groups, and businesses to develop the information, expertise, volunteers, financing, and/or other resources to accomplish the goals and work of the commission. Reserved tables (seats 8) and individual tickets to attend the Cora M. Allen Luncheon on Thursday, March 27th, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. are available for sale online until March 27, 2025. More Local News We need your help and nominations to honor women who make a difference in our communities daily. HERA Award represents women who have exhibited dedication and commitment to helping and participating in programs that benefit women and youth in Shreveport, Louisiana.
