What Happens If IPL Qualifier 2 Between PBKS Vs MI Is Washed Out?
Last Updated: IPL 2025 Qualifier 2, PBKS Vs MI: The race for the last spot in the final is on as Punjab Kings take on Mumbai Indians at Ahmedabad. The stage is set for the second qualifier, where the Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians will clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday. PBKS will strive for their first final appearance since 2014, while Mumbai Indians will have their sights set on a sixth IPL title. The playoff stages commenced with Qualifier 1 (PBKS vs RCB) and Eliminator 1 (GT vs MI) at the Mullanpur Stadium in Mohali. The remaining fixtures, including Qualifier 2 and the final, were moved to Ahmedabad. The final was originally scheduled for Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata, home ground of the previous year's champions, Kolkata Knight Riders. However, escalating military tensions between India and Pakistan led to the tournament's suspension and a revised schedule with altered playoff venues. Weather forecasts suggest a minimal chance of rain, with predicting a 24 per cent probability. However, if the match is abandoned due to rain, the team higher in the points table will progress. In this scenario, it would be the Shreyas Iyer-led Punjab Kings, who finished the league stage at the top with 19 points and a superior net run-rate compared to their closest rivals, Royal Challengers Bangalore. Extra-Time Provisions in Place for Rain Delay Should rain disrupt the game, the BCCI and the IPL Governing Council have allocated an extra hour to the playing conditions, providing more time for the teams to complete the match. 'Similar to the playoffs stage, an additional one hour will be allocated to the playing conditions for the remaining matches of the league stage, starting Tuesday, 20 May," the BCCI statement noted. Clause 13.7.3 of the IPL Playing Conditions, addressing extra time, states: 'Where the start of play is delayed or play is suspended for any reason then extra time of… up to one hundred and twenty minutes for any of the play-off matches (shall be available)." 'For the avoidance of doubt, if extra time is required to be used, it will be taken in the following sequence. In the event of a delayed start or interruption, the provision of… one hundred and twenty minutes for play-off matches extra time is to be used first, followed by the time allocated for time-outs and then the reduction in the innings change interval (if applicable)." 'For clarity, the changeover period (maximum 10 mins) for a Super Over after the main match is not to be taken into account when applying any permitted extra time available." It is important to note that no official statement has been issued regarding a reserve day for the second qualifier. Currently, only the final has a provision for a reserve day. PBKS vs RCB, IPL 2025: What will happen if rain plays spoilsport in Qualifier 1? Explained
Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will face each other in a much-awaited encounter at Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, New Chandigarh on Thursday (May 29). Both teams have dominated the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season and will want to win the Qualifier 1 for clinching a spot in the final. However, if rain plays spoilsport in the upcoming clash, the match could be delayed, shortened, or abandoned. Here's a detailed explanation of what will happen if it rains in the PBKS vs RCB game. The duration of the match will be shortened based on the cut-off time provided. The minimum number of overs that can be played during the match are five overs for each side. However, if it continues to pour and not even a 5-over game is possible then the match will be abandoned. No, there is no reserve day for the Qualifier 1. If the match gets abandoned, then the team that finished at a higher position after the league stage will directly storm into the summit clash. If Qualifier 1 gets abandoned then Punjab Kings will become the first team to make it to the final of IPL 2025 scheduled on June 3. In such case, RCB will face the winners of Eliminator in the Qualifier 2. PBKS and RCB both ended the league stage matches with 19 points each. However, the Shreyas Iyer-led team has the upper hand with a better NRR. While the NRR of RCB is +0.301, PBKS top the points table with an NRR of +0.372. According to AccuWeather, it is unlikely to rain at the venue. In Mullanpur, the temperature is expected to be approximately 35°C at the start of the Punjab Kings vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru match, cooling to around 28°C by the end. Humidity levels will range between 38% and 51% during the game. The sky is forecasted to remain clear throughout the Qualifier 1 clash.

RCB pull off what no other team could do in 18 years of IPL, set unprecedented record of…
The Royal Challengers Bengaluru have done what no other team could do in the 18-year history of the Indian Premier League (IPL), that is to win all away matches in a season that follows a home-away format. RCB accomplished the unprecedented milestone of winning all seven away games this season after they beat Lucknow Super Giants by six wickets at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. The win also took RCB to the second spot, ensuring them two cracks at the final this season. They will face table-toppers Punjab Kings on May 29 in Mullanpur for a spot in the final. RCB finished with 19 points in 14 matches this year. They finished second on the points table for the first time since 2016. They finished the group stage with 19 points, the same as Punjab, but the net run rate of 0.30 put them behind the Shreyas Iyer-led side. Seven of their nine wins came in away games. Notably, both Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Mumbai Indians (MI) attained seven wins in the 2012 season but lost a game each away from their home den. RCB chased down 228 with 8 balls to spare, thanks to a blistering unbeaten 85 off 33 balls from stand-in captain Jitesh Sharma and a half-century (54) from Virat Kohli. RCB's triumph marked the second successful 200-plus chase in T20s at Lucknow's venue after Sunrisers Hyderabad gunned down 206 against the hosts on May 19. Kohli put on 61 with opening partner Phil Salt, who made 30, but the chase wobbled after Lucknow hit back with wickets, New Zealand quick Will O'Rourke taking two in two balls. Will O'Rourke sent back regular skipper and impact substitute Rajat Patidar, for 14, and the next ball had Liam Livingstone, leg before for a golden duck. Jitesh turned things around with his first IPL fifty. He hit eight fours and six sixes, including the winning hit over the fence, in his 33-ball knock. He put on an unbeaten 107-run stand for the fifth wicket with Mayank Agarwal (41* off 23) Earlier, Rishabh Pant, who struggled for runs after being bought by Lucknow for a record $3.21 million in the auction, saved his best for last as he hit his season-best score (118* off 61). During Bengaluru's record chase, Lucknow bowlers conceded runs heavily, but New Zealand tearaway Will O'Rourke had a night to forget. He scalped two wickets but conceded 74 runs in his four-over spell, the third-most expensive in the tournament's history.
